Try a CPU limiter.

forgive my ignorance but what is a CPU limiter?

It limits your CPU speed, so old games work on their intended speed.

just simply
right click on CCV.exe
select proprerties/compability
enable " launch this program under window 98 compability"
apply.
works like a charm.

Umm...not really that simple...not if you have a fast CPU.
Also, CPU Slowdown/Limiter doesn't solve the fast scrolling speed 100% if you have a fast gaming graphics card.

You could give this one a try.

I haven't tested it personally, never needed to with a 2.4 Ghz.

cheers

I know it's a hassle if only needed for Close Combat but did you try slowing down your pointer speed within your mouse software?. Also, you'll want to disable pointer acceleration if it's enabled, tiss' a bad thing indeed.

Another thing to try: Disable direct draw acceleration in DirectX Diagnostics. You can go the quicker route by clicking on the Start Menu, then Run and type in dxdiag then enter...it's under the display tab.

There is a program made for CC that will disable direct draw acceleration, then renable it for you when finished playing. It's called Close Combat Starter, obviously this is much better than having to do it manually.
