Unit Guide - German MG Halftrack

gerMGhalftrack

Battlegroup Name: MG Halftrack
Turret Class: Open Top
Turret Type: N/A
Crew: 3
Speed: 36 mph (60 km/h)
Weight: 11,600 lb. (5,272 kg)
Engine: Maybach HL42 TRKM
Schürzen: No

Entering production in June of 1941, this lighter cousin of the SdKfz 251 was designed as a light troop carrier. The resulting SdKfz 250 chassis was essentially a lightly armored body mounted to a Demag D7 tractor chassis.
This half-track comes in four different variants, all of which focus around anti-infantry rolls. These units should not be moved into the open until all armor and AT guns have been eliminated. While these vehicles initially will seem of little use, you will find a new appreciation for them when you have a large infantry presence to deal with.

The IG Half-Track carries the exact same armament as the IG Carrier and can be used in a similar way. The mortar variant carries only twenty-five fewer rounds than the 251 chassis, and will do the same job. Both machinegun variants are an excellent choice for locking down infantry positions while you move in other units to their flanks and rear.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
