Unit Guide - US M3 MG

usM3mg

Battlegroup Name: MG Halftrack
Turret Class: Open Top
Turret Type: N/A
Crew: 3
Speed: 45 mph (72 km/h)
Weight: 20,000 lb. (9,090 kg)
Engine: White 160AX, 144 hp, gasoline

The American army used a variety of half-track configurations during the war. These half-tank, half-truck vehicles were used both as infantry carriers and weapons platforms. The M3 offered an inexpensive solution to move troops across terrain that trucks could not, all in the relative safety of a lightly armored vehicle.
You will most often see the M3 in its two machinegun configurations. These are excellent tools for mopping up stray infantry units and guarding your flanks from probing scout teams. The mortar variant will also be a welcome addition to your battlegroup, carrying three times the number of rounds that your foot teams do. This allows this unit to keep up constant pressure on infantry locations. It's best to keep the M3 completely concealed until all AT guns and armor are destroyed. Even once these threats are eliminated, the M3 is still vulnerable to mortar attacks and heavy infantry.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
