Hey the mods by Firefoxcc mod for WAR such as ABTF, ardennes offensive on here is outdated, it's for an older version of WAR I think

I had this trouble too on Windows 7 for CC4 and CC5, the games didn't start, I think it's something to do with securom or something similar (basically a method of cd check, that microsoft disabled in an update, which stops a lot of older games working unless use a no cd exe).
However installing the latest patch for both games got them to start. |

Judging by videos I've looked at on youtube seems Cross of Iron has the least new features, only noticed an extra campaign of maps that is separate to the main campaign, and possibly some changes and updates too, so that seems like a no go. WaR and TLD seem to offer a bit more new more content over the originals. But not really enough, for example in TLD i saw included british and canadian forces, but there already is a mod for CC5 for this. And Modern Tactics i watched a review on youtube, seems all the things he says good about it are only in multiplayer, and i'm more of a singleplayer guy (no campaign etc) xD So LSA seems to be the one i'll go for. Thank you
Maybe I will get some more too if there is a sale, at the moment there a bit too pricey for me to buy all |

Hhi i am a long time CC fan, started with CC2 in the late 90's (which is my favorite, but might be because of nostalgia) and I own all the original 5 games and Gateway to Caen & Panthers in the fog. But I was wondering if the matrix CC games before this were worth getting if I already have the original? and what do they offer over the originals? I'm thinking of buying Last Stand Arnhem because this one seems to be a new game rather than a remake, but let me know your thoughts on this, any advice will be helpful. |

I wouldn't say the AI is better in CC2, it's pretty much the same system, its just that the maps are smaller and when they made later CC games with bigger maps they didn't bother improving the AI to fit the bigger maps. Only some minor bugs like tanks spinning randomly and that bee dance shit. For example if you use the small map mod by TIK for gateway to caen, then the AI suddenly becomes more aggressive. Though who plays cc for graphics anyway, the only cc that looks dated in my opinion is CC1. |

CC games aren't compatible with linux. Only windows, unless you are using wine or something similar.
Also the downloads for cc1-5 are available in the download section on this site. Though I don't think they will put longest day on here because it's still being sold and needs a serial key, unlike the old ones which are abandonware.
To use iso files you can either mount them as a fake cd using a program called daemon tools lite. Or you can burn it to a blank cd/dvd with some other program. |

As the title says, What is your favourite CC game? I can't make a poll because there too many games. Alternatively what is your favourite CC by Atomic and favourite CC by matrix?
For me would be:
Atomic: Close Combat 2 A bridge too far Matrix: Close Combat Panthers in the fog |

You mean just explosions/tanks and sprites etc or the maps too? Personally I think the cc2 maps look nice. I like how they were nice and colourful compared to say cc4 and 5 which were a bit dull in comparison. Same way I think PITF looks better than GWTC. But is a more personal thing I guess. Maybe if it had PITF colour scheme then I wouldn't mind. |

can anyone find the cc2 version? i been looking for this mod for ages, haven't seen it online since early 2000's or so

Not trying to be rude, but there is this great search engine called Google that can help you find stuff on the internet.
One Googe search for "CC2 great war mod" and I got this: http://www.greatwargames.com/ccindex.htm
Seems like the files are still available for DL.

Problem is that some of the downloads are down there. Such as the maps which you need to download which sucks. |
