No problemo.....I'm just happy that there is still an active community and that Matrix is at least showing some support with their "re-releases" In the meantime I've been:
Lurking this site gathering lots of good info.
Purchased TLD (I missed the boat by never buying CC5) and have been having some fun playing out a few operations against the A.I (soon I'll be ready to find a steady playing partner to start a op or gc)
I've opened said ports but have not tried to see if it was successfully done.
Thanks for the reply and I'll report back when I get my router all set up to do battle |

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that wouldn't have to play around and open ports when using hamachi and gameranger, oh well, I think I was able to open the ports and the range correctly, now I need a guinea pig to test it out. |

I haven't played H2H in years and years and want to get back to playing CC again so I want to set myself up to be able to host games. I was just on game ranger and was able to connect when the other fellow hosted but got booted when I tried to host. This is the error message I got:
Direct Play Error
Or something like that. It was a windows message. I had my windows firewall turned off even though I have my .exe file for the game as an exception. I had Hamachi disabled as per the instruction I found on this site. I have a wireless router at home (Airport Extreme) but I have not forwarded any ports as I didn't think I had to using gameranger.
Can anyone give me any suggestions?
I'm happy though that I was able to connect when the other guy hosted as I stopped playing ABTF because I was not even able to do that (but that was years ago and going thru BHQ) |

Hello Everyone,
I recently cleaned out my basement and came across my good old close combat CD's and am very happy to find that there is still interest in this game. This is a great site so a big thanks to whoever takes care of this place......all the info a fellow needs about CC is at his fingertips.
I used to play on TH a few years ago playing ABTF it was great fun to play H2H even though a noobie like me got is arse kicked the first few times. I stopped playing because of router issues but I'd like to come back hoping that hamachi will cure all that. I can't find ABTF but I do have CC3 and CC4. I'm thinking more guys play CC3 so that's what I'm playing now against AI using the Real Red mod.
I have a few questions though.
Are there any router issues using Hamachi, or will I have to play around with ports and stuff?
Do you guys report to a ladder? I went over to TH and things are pretty empty there.
How does H2H work in CC3? In ABTF the guys would just use the maps that came with the game, put in a few VL's and portion out points between Allies and Germans (Germans getting less). Is that the same kind of thing that goes on with CC3, or do you guys just play the battles and Campaigns that come with the game?
Anyway that's it for now. I hope to started soon (I've got to get dust off vs. the AI first) I'm in the central time zone for North America and usually have Friday mornings to myself....(wife is working at that time...ha ha) So in my TH days I was even able to play guys in Europe just fine.
Hope to meet you guys on the battlefield someday soon!
