Looking really awesome!

Probably a silly question, but is there any chance the CC2 maps will be included in a .zip with the download? Just as a point of interest.

Keep on keeping on!

Has anyone got any new TLD mods in the works? I just got it the other day, am enjoying it.

I think there's a lot that could be done... I remember Nomada Firefox was quick of the mark with a Wacht Am Rhein Vetmod...

Anyways, I'm no tech genius so am not best placed to start the ball rolling!

PostForum: Close Combat Wacht am Rhein   Posted: Thu Jan 15, 2009 6:50 am   Subject: WaR Mods?
Hello all!

Aside from Firefox's upcoming Bridge Too Far mod, are there any other mods in the works for WaR?

I think it would be a real boon to rework some of the CC5 and CC4 mods out there to the WaR format - as many maps as one wants (up to 64) and improved AI would surely reinvent most games.

I'm still longing to find the time to make a mod, and eternally in debt to those who have/do!

Rock and roll.

I have often thought that it would be nice to be able to keep good tank crews when their tanks are destroyed, if the crew survive. They can then be reassigned to a new tank.

Maybe an extra command for them to "Bail Out" would help them survive if, say, the main gun was knocked out and the vehicle was immobile in LOS of enemy armour.

Maybe if there was the possibility to "save" a couple of veteran units to the roster, or if a squad's losses and injuries were only replaced/healed by the 'rest' system as in CC3.

But I don't know how possible any of this is!

The other related thing I used to think might be an idea was if there was a more realistic & intricate awards system - for example German troops who have been in three or more engagements would be awarded the relevant (panzer or infantry, or general) Assault Badge. Troops who destroyed tanks would receive a tank destruction stripe etc.

Finally (rant over!) would there ever be the possibility (with fairly strict limitations so it didn't get silly) of being able to award one's own medals/promotions? Perhaps awards/promotions suggested based on the actions of certain troops.

BUT they're all probably not very good ideas.

Bit of a long shot...

Back when I was a wee lad, I got Perfect General II, a fairly old-school Widnows 95 strat game. It turned me into a nut for all this strategic, but I lost it when I lent it to a buddy in maybe 2001, and have been looking for it ever since.

Question

1) does anybody know where I can get a copy? I have seen a few pricey ones on ebay which I'd more than happily go for...

2) would it work on XP if I changed compatibility settings?

Madness. Confused

OH MY GOD. I haven't forgotten a Beaujolais day in AGES! Just goes to show how busy I am these days...

Well-remembered. I shall have to acquire some tomorrow.

Cheers (santé!)

PzJager, I've not had a chance to DL it yet but I'm going to over the weekend: how could it fail to be a classic?

Next step: playing all three back to back. With just iron rations and the last drop of vodka for company!

I dig mods.

One day I'll have a little time in which to make one, maybe. That would be nice.

Forgive me if I'm being thick...will there be a new config manager for WaR? I found this really useful for CC5 and would really dig having one again.

I would dig bringing in some photos for some character. Even if some are blank, there could just be a stock image, like a Balkenkreuz (beam cross) or something, just so that something is there

I totally agree: I'm an aspiring (eventual!) modder and I completely see why you want to keep control over your work. I guess it's easier to get a little rash on a computer than it is in real life...

Your mods kick ass anyway. Once I've finished the vanilla WaR campaign I'm getting your V1.01 like a shot!

I'm very much looking forward to it..!

Wonder which one will be next...
