Thanks that helped a lot. One thing I did figure out. If you have Windows 7 the manager will not work unless you click on properties and set it at windows xp or older compatibility

I just got my pc back up and I am running Windows 7. So far I am not having any problems running Close Combat but I am having problems with the Confg Manager. When I set it up it does not create the System, Packages or Originals folders. For the life of me I can't remember where these folders go. Do they go into the Plug-ins folder or what. I have used the manager before but never really paid attention and now I can't seem to get the thing to work.

Please help

These are from my SDK campaign between me and Ronson. While these two are not records by any means they have managed to survive since the first battle of the GC and have faced countless barrages and wave after wave of Ronson's mongrel hordes.

We have since fought at least two more rounds and will be working on getting it updated this week.I will start keeping a full report at that post but I will also start keeping a more condensed form here for those with slower computers that will have less pics.

Hi,

The updated SDK will be available very soon.
However, the upcoming 2.0 version will be compatible with your campaign. So you will be able to get the new graphics, sounds, etc... and continue with your current saved file

Cheers
PJ

Thanks for the news and the great work. Looking very much forward to it

Here is where me and Pzt Ronson stands as of this moring. We did our final strat moves for the 20th and are four battles into this round.

So far Ronson has been able to turn my flank and unless I can halt his armoured advance I am in danger of being encircled. More german bg's are beginning to show up so that should help some as he is not able to advance on them as easily as the romanian bg's.

I'm running a H2H GC as the germans right now. I didn't use the H2H GC just the regular GC and as the germans it is tough. The biggest problem is russian artillery. Your best weapons against the russians are your AT guns but it is hard for them to survive the barrages of rockets and artillery.

I've been keeping an AAR of the campaign you can check it out here:

I am in a H2H GC and right now we are midway through the third round with me playing as the Germans and after seeing the numbers you posted in you campaign I am a little worried after seeing that 1072 Russians tanks killed.I am playing the regular GC and if those are the kind of numbers of tanks I'll be facing I think I can rule out any type of major or decisive victory on my part.

I have been thrown quite a few suprises so far and anyone starting a H2H I would like to offer what I have noticed so far.

1. Don't underestimate the Romanians.I have to BG's that are cut off and out of supply and they are still holding on. As a mater of fact in Serifomavitch(pretty sure I didn't spell that right)that unit has destroyed more KV-1's than any german units and is still holding outfor at least 1 more turn.

2. Hide your AT guns well. The Pak40 is deadly to KV-1's but the FO's and Katushas(again dont think I spelt it right)are deadly to them. So far it seems that they will get the shots off and destroy the tanks but as soon as they do they are spotted and taken out.It is like trading the tank for the gun the problem is as the germans you dont have as many guns as they have tanks. The Pak38 and others are okay but you must have a decent close shot.

3. Russian artillery is the real killer. The russians are very loaded with field guns,FO's,Katushas and mortar's.It seems now that whenever I have a unit get spotted there is an enormous barrage and my defense is wrecked.

If you like you can check out my GC at:

I would also like to say thanks to Pzjager for creating a game that keeps me up at night trying to figure out what I'm going to do next, and looking forward to SOC

Hirohito had decided as early as june to try and work out some sort of surrender.Granted at first he wanted concessions but later realized that was impossible that the Allies would want an unconditional surrender.

It was during the Potsdam conference that Truman decided that he must drop the bombs. Not so much to speed along Hirohito's decision because that was pretty much a forgone conclusion, but to show Stalin that the west had the greater power. With Soviets not renewing their non agression pact and having already beaten a large and experienced Japanese army Truman made sure that Stalin knew we had a secret weapon that could end the war quickly.Stalin already knew of the a-bombs but doubted if the US would ever use such a weapon.Truman did two things when he dropped those bombs. One was to let Stalin know that Yes we have the balls to use it and yes we have more than one. That put the west at some advantage because their was little doubt that if Stalin was to aggressive the US would have had no problems using it on them as well.

A great movie from the late forties or early fifties is BattleGround

It's about the 101st in and around Bastonge during the battle of the bulge.I think it was one of the first films to try and not glorify combat as the earlier propaganda films had done in the early forties.
