I dont know.

Playing LSA this afternoon, I used a full squad to storm a single house defended by the last two guys of a battered ennemy squad. The result was a full squad crawling for cover after the first shot and being stabbed to dead one after the other while seeking cover. It can't be as bad as this, can it?

There are 3 new video AAR for the new Combat Mission here .

I'm afraid CC has been outclassed.

WOW!

I had a look at those two games and what can I say... Impressive!

The new Combat Mission will be playable in real time and will represent each sodiler of a squad so it definatly look very promising. it does not look like it has a strat map so maybe if they release a future WWII game using Theater of War 3's engine with strat map would do the trick!

They are also cheaper (or the same price) than LSA!  Laughing

What iId like to know, it is what BG will merge in the other before doing the merger. I may not want to lose that tanks by sending it back to the FP.  Is it possible to control what bg will be «lost».   For exemple,  I might not want the Kriegmarine BG to absorbd the SS armored recon BG but rather the opposite. So far, it looks like the largest BG will automaticly absorb the smaller one.

I know it was possible to do so in CCV. You had to use some usermade application to modify the save file. I think it's CCReg but I have no idea if it has been adapted to LSA and TLD. Might simply have to restart if you are not too far in your GC.

I'm also in favor of a single night turn on first day only. And please, if possible, avoid the random drop thingy Wink

I also noticed all the Churchills have a 6 pdrs like in old version.  MK III had a 6 pdrs, MK V had a 95mm howitzer(like centaur) and the MK IV ou VI had a 75mm.

I think we settled to have a ratio of 1 MK III for each 2 MK VI?  or was it 1 MK III for each 3 MK VI??

Hi Dima,

good work as usual :)

However, I've noticed the unit icon at the battlegroup screen for Churchills in the 49th and 15th is an armored car.

Cheers,

Well I wondered what would be the cause of the slow RoF and how it was «fixed» in the Tiger II according to you so I suspected it was in the turret interior layout.

I guess the answer is in the heavier 88mm shell then.

Thanks for clarifying this up :)

Cheers,

edit: forgot to ask what you found wrong in TRSM?

I just wanted to verify out of curiosity.

I thought Tiger and Firefly had same Rof in TRSM and just discovered it was slower.  Then I got curious on how a tank with similar shell type (not two part ammo) would fire slower than a tank «known for its reduced RoF with cramped modified turret to fit in a gun with a rotated loading breach».  Wink   , as I had heard about the reduced RoF for the Firefly but never about a slow RoF for the Tiger tank before TRSM.  So I just made a quick search by myself and found those unexpectedly high numbers that contradicted TRSM.

What was flawed with the Tiger turret that got corrected in Panther/Tiger II? That ammo rack disposition?

Cheers,

Serk

Dima!

What info did you base yourself on for the RoF of tanks?

In Tiger vs Firefly, the technical datas state Tiger (15 rpm, same for Panther and Tiger II) had a faster RoF than Firefly (10 rpm and reg sherman would be 20 rpm).  Theses numbers seem very high and must be different in combat situation but I'd be suprised the ratio would change that much.

Here is the link to the book, look at pages 22 (Tiger) and 23(Firefly) for techinical datas.

I'm trying to find more infos and the book Panzers at war looks promising but I can't acces the full copy.  At the page 121, the books indicates the Tiger II normal RoF would be 5 to 8 rounds a minute, but the sections on the tiger I/ Panthers are not available unfortunately.

Cheers,

Serk

Regarding Churchills, so far in TRSM, I've found Churchill V and VI in the 43th ID, both using 6 pdrs.  Are there any others in different BGs?

I made a quick search and the info I've found says it's the Churchill III that had a 6 pdrs. (Did they use APDS too or was it only issued to ATG? I don't know)  Churchill IV had either a 6 pdrs or 75mm gun (looks like 75mm Churchill IV were only used in North Africa and Italy)

Churchill V had a 95mm howitzer and the Churchill VI and VII had a 75mm gun.

Here is an interesting discussion on the Churchill issued in Normandy with great info on armor upgrade and gun used.

Maybe our expert on British army (AKA Ronson) could add more info on this :)

EDIT - Ok looks like the 6 pdrs were issued with APDS but many Churchill were re-armed with 75mm for better HE shells.  It appears the ratio was two 75mm Churchills for every Churchill equiped with a 6dprs.

Cheers,

the H2H rule is usually that you can't deploy in area not connected to one of your VL.  So you should be allowed to do so.

Some minor glithes here, all Churchills (except for crocodile) in the 43ID have wrong picture in BG screen as well as in battle, and the new lebesy map has avl wrongly named «2 story manoir» while its a hedge in the the middle of the map.

Cheers.
