Thats an amazing idea. The disband bug basically takes all the strategy out of the game. For example I made a huge pocket is a gjs GC; the next turn all the good units inside the pocket were disbanded only to come out in the next few turns fully equiped and supplied.
Playing a GC with the disband rule would be a much different expierence.

My games keep stopping at random times. It just freezes up but we can still chat. WTF is going on and how can I FIX IT!!! SOMEONE HELP ME>..... this game is soooooo terribly addictive....

I started playing the push for Caen OP which seems like an excellent OP! The new mortors leave me sneaking all my teams from the start. I am literaly shaking in my boots. those 4,2 or 12 cm mortors take out entire teams if they are caught running in the open. Thats pretty accurate historically; I mean a mortor round dropped in the middle of the group KABOOM they all go down. But in this game with 16 teams the loss of one full team to a mortor round is a huge loss. I really like the idea of a more powerfull mortor team; just wondering on thoughts of 1 team with 3 regular sized mortors with maybe 15-20 rounds each???
Just thinking out loud! thx cpt mac for your continued effort on this mod; its one of the best!

wow seary chill out dude. Just cause your smarter than the rest of the world doesnt mean you have to freak out on ppl. Come up to the great white north here and puff on some magic leaf and relax.
Dude; All you have to do to get it to run in windows 98 mode is right click on CC5.exe go down to properties. Then click over to the compatibility tab; then click the box and use the tab to go to win 98. SOOOO simple.

hmm thx tack that explains alot. I suppose I am wondering where all the crappy shermans are in overlord! seems to be very few; with some allied BGs getting 3/4 crocks they are just as unstopable as a panther division. |

kudos on the respect issue; Keeping tight german units with overlapping fire and MG 42's!!! does keep allied infantry in check. Those mg's are awesome. |

Allied crocks are invincible. Well they can be taken out by Scheck’s but seem impervious to all other weapons. I noticed this in abbey d’ardenne had a pzt division defending against an allied BG attacking into them. German Armored BG had mark 1v’s pz3 flamers ever flak 36 88 all got the black target. I couldn’t believe it when a pz3 flamer got a black circle 35 meters away; hit him twice with the flame then promptly the crock turned and fired its gun and blew up the pz3. Is this some kind of error? Avre’s have the green target (same chassis with a HUGE gas tank on it no?)
I recently bitched about german teams not being able to go toe to toe against allied infantry.... WHAT ABOUT TANKS? I am playing a public GC as germans and I almost dont even want to bother taking a tank; a schreck has a much better chance then a gun or a tank in protecting my troops against armor
I love overlord for how the Allies do have more options with infantry and how the allies dominate and get off the beach. I am just trying my best as german commander to save my forces and wear down the allies. My biggest concern is I cannot dominate any open field as germans.

I started A GC as germans in this MOD and I just cannot go toe to toe VS alllied infantry. Those unlimited rifle grenades smoke the gerries; just smoke emm. The only thing that seems to work is light MG's.
Anyone else notice single allied teams running over fully supplied/ high morale GOOD german teams like they weren't even there??? |

I'll agree with you whole heartily; the first few days allies walk all over the German BG's; no question. Dday plus 3 though if Germans play really smart and counterattack very little they could form a line and hold the allies the rest of the GC with a line running from Bayeux to Caen; below Caen can hold a very long time.
At my present rate my Allied GC will take another 4 months so I will not test this thoery untill that is finished. But the challenge is on; I dare anyone to start a Public GC as the jerries; if u can handle being stomped on for a few days I believe you will find the resources to actually win.

I really like overlord. I have been playing through as allies on a public GC; allies seem to get really strongly offensive units in the beginning then the later BG’s seem to lack the 'punch' of crocs and AVRES. I would post pictures of my gc I knew how to upload them!
As of June 14th I have a line running from Ranville and bois du baven up through the bridge, then over to Caen extending through the airport then tourville and finally village bocage, entrapping 5 German that I can see including 2 panther units. The line is being held by weak and cut off bgs that have been on the front since landing and they could be broken if the Germans have any available decent supplied units.
I think this is a result of a poor GC; most 'public' players are very aggressive. I am very interested in completing a GC as the Germans. The fact is that basically no allied unit can advance against a panther division in a reasonably open map without suffering atrocious casualties in men and material.
I have not tried this out yet but I think playing a public GC as Germans you would get an excellent game

Is there a step bu step manual for a newbie first getting into the online community available on cc series? Like step 1 get 5.01, step 2 get config manager, step 3 install gjs ..... I remember my first times trying to get into the communitiy. Wruff helped me out incredibally and if it wasnt for someone 'holding my hand' I dunno if I could have gotten into this fantastic community.
