Critique I can give, without having played it much, is that the MP40 sound is too powerful and that there's no ambient sound, a la the Stalingrad series of mods.

Having played Stalingrad mods, where there is a constant chorus of off-map shelling, planes, small arms fire etc, going onto silent Normandy beaches is disappointing and detracts from the overall experience.

I'm playing the GC in H2H and have reached Manstein's arrival. However, I was shocked to see that, in an otherwise brilliant GC, the relief forces are immediately without supply after just one round of battle!

6th Pz et al were stopped by Russian forces in combat, and were not hampered by lack of supply. I had always assumed that the three jumping off points in the south would turn into major German supply depots.

A bit of a flaw in the campaign realism IMO. (However, I'm being hyper-critical as SDK is by far the best CC mod I've played, the above is meant as constructive criticism).

I like the realism sought by PJ, but when you're playing SDK on elite level it becomes unrealistic as the Germans have precious few vehicles anyway and to lose them to thin air is a bit much.

It spoils an otherwise excellent campaign IMO.

Well in fact after a few saves the correct German forces are displayed, but I will check with PZj.

The Germans have enough on their plate without losing their carefully husbanded resources so any arbitrary attrition is a bit much and detracts from the game.

As far as I can tell they've lost nothing. I think it must be interruption of data or something in the game save. We're going to try to re-do movement and see what happens.

I am playing SDK GC H2H.

We just did movement and I am stunned to report that, during movement, I have lost: 2 wurfrahmen, 1 stug, 2 Pz IIIs, a pak38, two snipers, a 12cm mortar, and an iron cross MG team - and these are just the ones I've noticed!

Does anybody have an explanation for this massive loss of resources?

German high command is in shock. I guess the computer has to balance the game massively in favour of the Soviets? Lots of my intact BGs have been affected, losing crack squads without even going into combat!

Hi everyone,

My brother posted this on the SDK forum, but as most people tend to stick to these generic forums I shall re-post it here:

"We are playing head to head campaign and KEEP getting crashes on truce or result on the ORLOVKA map (Top right..next to Rynok above Gumrak etc)

When I re downloaded the map so we made sure we both had the same version, both didn't have the .btm (or something) file in the download.

Any ideas whats happening? Whats a correct link for the map so it works, help!

Do I need a special version, what else could be causing it?"

Does anyone have any ideas. It's just this one map and it's killing us.

Day 2 of H2H GC finished.

Soviet armour rampant in west, but Luftwaffe performing prodigies.

3rd Army all but desotryed after holding out for almost 2 whole days in some places. Germans trying to withdraw forces to Inner Don Ring but bloody Soviet reserves came in inside 22Pz Div meaning scramble for supply has overtaken creating new defensive ring. 22Pz and Romanian 1st Armoured now having difficulty fighting with any cohesion, being starved of fuel. Soviets have beaten off desperate Romanian attack at Kalatch but will be attacked by other Axis units soon.

On north front German units fighting grimly and by end of Day 2 (20th) they still have finger tip control of Vertiachy and Kotluban. Soviets have cleared most of the other northern sectors with their tanks. 4th Guards in bitter battle with 376th Infantry, but Soviet advance slowed, after initial rapidity, by stiff German defence. 4th Guards now too scared to move and are being picked off by Wehrmacht Mg teams.

German high command evacuated all panzer units from Stalingrad on 19th to keep them as mobile reserve and 24, 22 and 14Pz all largely untouched. Only one Soviet attack on Gumrak so far, beaten off with heavy loss. Soviets too frightened to push home assault and are waiting for armour.

295 Infantry holding onto only Stalingrad sector still occupied by German forces, but can do little to prevent Gumrak from being assaulted. Luckily the 244 Sturm Abteiling is dug in and will be tough to eject.

In south disaster befell 29 Motorised, losing two Wurfrahmen in opening round of battle. Commander has committed suicide in response. Romanians have only so much time against Russian cavalry brigade and the bloody Italians, who fought well, want to fight on with only two squads remaining! Forza Il Duce!

Day 3, the 21st, about to commence. Nazi counter attack in waiting....

Unbelievably good fun. I particularly like the way the GC evokes the sheer desperation of 6th Army's position. We have crises everywhere I look!

PostForum: Close Combat Wacht am Rhein   Posted: Thu Dec 25, 2008 11:25 am   Subject: Question about disbanding unit
So, having read all the responses, and read the Matrix thread too, the consensus is that there's NO difference between a voluntarily disbanded unit and one disbanded due to low morale after a battle?

And that there's no out of supply effect to a FP, but MAYBE only to the remaining active units?

I hope this is true.

I'm being lazy here, I admit it, but if you disband a unit in full supply does it retain 100% of its unts, or is there a percentage it loses?

I know out of supply can lose up to 50%, IIRC?

Having played all Romanian units over the course of the first day, i.e. 4 rounds of the 19th November, only one has been routed, with morale on. Lascar's 6th Infantry is doing well, I withdrew the 1 Armoured Div. Italians are in a spot of bother but have survived the first day's pounding.

Blimey the Soviet support is irrepresible.

I had exactly the same problem as the original poster. I found a solution by luck: when using the mouse I hold the shift key and it somehow slows the scroll down to manageable rates.

Hi,

Someone helped me with a problem to get me out of an uninstall problem that has screwed my CC up totally.

he said:

"Uninstall CC5 (manually deleting the folders)...then use something line CCCleaner to clean your registries. Or use CCCleaner (or other Uninstaller Programs to uninstall CC5). ** If that still fails...you might need to remove manually all CC5 entries from your registry using RegEdit."

My question is, what is CC Cleaner and can I DL from this site? I looked around for it but didn't find it.

Thanks.
