"Stahl auf der Heide 2017", Tank Museum Munster, North Germany this September was the third annual event in which some of the museums runners are presented on a driving course, much like Tank Fest at Bovington, UK.

This year was a first for the painstaikingly restored PzKpfw I Ausf. A to have some turns along with a Panther and a PzKpfw IV. Not to forget some more modern vehicles like Leopard, T-62, BMP 1, Marder...

Enjoy the runners:

I heard that mostly the ship´s propellers were salvaged. These were huge pieces of bronze and might be easier to get when a wreck was located.

This sunday I will visit the German Tank Museum (Deutsches Panzer Museum) as they have their annual "driving day". Last year a serviceable Panther should have spread some mud, but had it´s historical gear troubles. Maybe this year it will move. Also last year I was lucky to talk to the staff and they let me into replica A7V, which was quite an experience, since everything was perfectly reconstructed form the drivers devices down to the gunners positions.
Have a look at the wiki page about the museum and let me know if anyone want some close up pics of certain war machines.  I´m invited as a reenactor but may have some time to take pics among the crowds.

Hmm, somehow I can´t install the TLD mod. The installer does not recognize the original TLD .exe. Any ideas?

Very comprehensive study of an impressive mod, Überdave. I came to similar conclusions, then and already had plans to make an overhaul together with Ifni. At first we got green light from Firefox which he refused shortly afterwards, so we gave it up frustrate and faced RL again...
But that mod definately need some more attention as it really stands out of the usual mod mainstream. A port to TLD would do good, but who would take up this big work?

cheers

Nice to see our very old mod still draws some interest. I could continue with my ramblings about old CC5 projects like Cambrai, Vimy and such, even someone started a Gallipoli mod and lack of time and motivation, not improving over the years.  Sad

PostForum: Close Combat Gateway to Caen   Posted: Thu Apr 09, 2015 9:00 am   Subject: Re: A Step Back in Time or The Guns of August
It started with CC2 in 1998 and then we made it for CC3 as well. Last projects were an overhaul of CC3 GW and CC5 Cambrai 1917 (2005). For the latter we had a french member, living close to the battlefield who took a number of landscape photos for the project.
I once thought of a CC5  pocket mod of Pozières 1916 or Vimy 1917 for which we had superb maps made by then well known mapmakers like Naked_Foot, Fish and others.

My advice for a new WWI mod would be to focus on a period or battle of the war and reduce the numer of weapon systems and units accordingly. Our CC3 project, which covered the entire war was too unwieldy to mod and finish.

Hehehe, I would turn on the touch screen on my notebook. Directing units with finger tips might be cool. Maybe hammering with the finger onto the screen would work against lousy Panzer pathing...

Hey Sbufkle!

Maybe we´ll have a go over one of your WWI maps jut for the sake of the old days? Never managed to challenge one of the old The Great War mod team members in all those years and with the end of CCS looming on the horizon, it would be a nice touch, wouldn´t it?

cheers

Thanks for this comprehensive answer, Carthates!
I understand, that GJS-LSA will be a much different beast and thanks to your work it seems to be more outweighted. Crewing the Panzerfaust would be just another option for finetuning then.
In TLD-GT2.0, the german teams mostly had only one Panzerfaust, and it´s loss was quite a serious thing, when no other AT-Weapons were left.
Crewing them should have worked like LMG in teams. It was passed to next team member, if the original gunner died. Effectiveness against either INF or VEC is still controlled in another (don´t know exactly which) coloumn in the weapons.txt. But, as I said, I never tried it, but from my modding memories, it should work.
