I have both GI Combat, and squad assault, as well as squad assault - second wave. While I havent played too much of either I cant really complain since I paid only $5 for each. They are real time, but the AI is very tough.I do like the various camera angles but overall I was expecting a little more in the way of graphics (The sounds are great.) . I think that overall they are no where near the CC series, but like I said for $5 each, how can I complain... Have you tried the Combat Mission series? I have those as well and I have many enjoyable hours playing that series.

Nice, I will look into the Linux app ASAP. CC2 works just fine running 98SE on Microsoft Virtual server, but there is a small amount of mouse lag. I am looking to clear this up. Thanks for the feed back guys.

Try disabling direct draw... click start, run then type dxdiag, go to display setting and disable DirectDraw Acceleration..

Ok... I have a brand new kick ass pc that i just finished building but it now seems harder than ever to get my favorite game series to run smoothly. So my question is this... has anyone run any of the CC games on a virtual machine? I have used Microsoft Virtual server and VMWare server in my corporate environment for a few years and I am thinking of putting this together. And now since both products are *free* I would think this might be a nice project to share with anyone else that might be interested. Feedback would be nice...

Thanks all...

If that works for you, then cool. I was looking to get people to get on and play that normally don't.

Yes, but I don't think I ever see more than 15-20... most seem to be Clan or ladder play, which is cool, but I was hoping to get more people to show up, and just play for fun... you know a specific night or day when everyone knows, and will really try to show up and game... I don't see alot of that anymore.

Is anyone interested in getting together on Teamspeak and GameSpy, say once a month and having a CC gaming night? Something where maybe all registered members get on, and meet and game? And we can keep it open for anyone... just loosely organized, and have fun. Just to bring more people back to the game. I know after looking through the members, we are somewhat scattered around the globe, but I think it might be fun. Let me know your thoughts... Its either that or bowling, and that might be a little harder for us. Wink

Question, I have seen CC2 maps redone with improved graphics (It runs on CC5) and I was wondering if anyone has recreated the CC1 maps for a later game? Like CC5... Anyone?
Thanks
