@johnsilver Thank you for your comments on VetBoB for CC5 and WaR. I'll definitely try its CC5 incarnation.
@platoon_michael Actually I could swear I heard once those rocket launchers in TT's VetBoB but can't recall what map was it:( But I'm pretty sure it was while playing the latest version of this mod. Now I got installed 1.11 and haven't seen/heard any Nebelwerfers.
But I asked about them here because I was watching documentary "Battlefield II - The Battle for Caen" and found out that they caused huge casualties among Allied troops. Here's that part of this film:
(You can >> to 3:45 to check info on Nebelwerfers in Normandy.)
I didn't know about that but it'd suggest that these rocket launchers were broadly used by Germans. So I thought it'd nice to have them in CC5 since they played a significant role. But if it's gonna break the balance in game then it's fine the way it is now;)
I must say that I'm not so sure if it's a good idea but I'll give it a try. Just would need some advice on how to do it? What should be my first step? Already know that I must re-size all maps - is it something to start with?
Yeah, it looks like Mafi's website is down:( If anyone could upload (for example to sendspace.com) that latest version of 5CC (v1.17f2). Many thanks in advance:)
Thanks platoon_michael for that. a lot of hours/days doesn't sound that bad actually but I'm afraid that it would be more like weeks/months for a total noob like me:( Apart from all those tools you mentioned (that I'm not familiar with at all) I will need lots of info more than anything else. I'm not sure if I'm able to learn all these stuff:/
EDIT: My main concern I guess would be maps and the fact that they would need to be shrink:( Larger maps is a big advantage of CC5.
Just to let you know, this mod can be downloaded from matrix ftp server and it comes with all those missing files (even Greekvoices.pln is still there).
Looks like there's a bright future (and not so distant) ahead of all CM players - Normandy Module 2 and Eastern Front 1 (first out of 4!) also coming next year.
This discussion is starting to look like kids spat over apples and oranges - which are better, does anyone know? Can anyone tell?
AT_Stalky summed it up already: Preferences nothing else.
But AGS if you wanna continue... be my quest and tell me: what's the difference between CC3 and CC4/CC5 from the tactical point of view? To me, none whatsoever. And now, what's the difference from the strategic point of view? Doesn't strat map of CC4/CC5 offer more choices for the players? I think it does. And it's something that CC3 is missing. But doesn't it mean it's better/worse game? To me it's only different - that's all.
@johnsilver Will that updated WaR strat map work in CC4 and vetBoB ?
@platoon_michael How difficult would it be to convert let's say SDK to CC4 ? And btw, is this gonna be a full conversion or it's not possible because of some limits of CC4 and/or differences between CC4 and CC5 ?
I'm sorry but couldn't find it anywhere:( The only list I got with maps for CC3 mods is attached to this post. Try PM schrecken or US_Brake (or DAK_Legion ?) - maybe they'll be able to help you.
Let's be honest guys - all CC games are great and it's only a matter of personal preferences to say which one is better than other. I got CC3, 4 & 5 and like them all and can't really decide which one is my favorite. On the other hand, of course non of them is perfect either - all have some flaws and bugs. But it's been so many years since these games were released and no one has made anything that would beat or even come close to them. And that's just the best proof of how good these games are:)
In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
