Most mods were built on top of 5.01 thus if you do not have and install a mod you will have a mixture of versions which is BAD.

Does lots with the effectiveness of mortars on armor, guns, etc... and other stuff.
Something that is very obvious is that grenediers will not fire from inside buildings without the 5.01a patch. You'll see "In Building" in the heads-up soldier monitor display when you're trying to fire grens from builidings.
5.01a does a lot for CC gameplay.

Well I realized I HADN'T installed after I checked for the 5.01 on the main menu. I tried three separate times but to no avail. Perhaps I installed the patch in the wrong area? Does that matter? And then I uninstalled the game to set all of my CC5 stuff together in one big file, including the patch, but it won't install anymore: there's a big scratch running across it and my cd drive can't read it. I seem to be plagued by problems...I'll now have to find some cd scratch remover. NEW QUESTION: you guys know where to get some? Sad Rolling Eyes

To install the patch look at this guide for installing GJS.

http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=3

Follow the directions EXACTLY and it will work.

Skorzany.. The 501a patch is really a small program..when you uninstall cc5 you must reinstall the patch as well(everytime) BUT... you cant just reinstall over the patch(doesnt work for some reason)What you must do is....Uninstall cc5...then go to your Add/Remove program(in Control panel) on your PC...remove the patch here...then reinstall your cc5 then install the patch again...by default(just answer yes to all questions...it is self installing)

Then your main screen should read 501 ...not 5.0

good luck!

Replied in the french forum for you, wait till Zappi does a reply as well. If I can recall, you need to have an english version or you need to rename some stuff. Just be patient untill Z. has replied for you as well Wink
