PostPosted: Sat Dec 02, 2006 10:31 am Post subject: Kubinka Tank Museum, Russia Reply with quote

G'day all, has anybody here heard of, or even been to, this place?

http://www.tankmuseum.ru/

It's a tank museum in the town of Kubinka, about 60km outside of Moscow. Going by the website, it looks pretty awesome and has some rare examples in there. This includes the Panzer Mk VIII "Maus" and the "Morser Karl". Would it be possible for one of you highly talented mod-creators out there to include one of these so-called super tanks in any future CC Mod? If anyone has actually been there, was it worth the cost to get there, or is it some sort of "Piss-weak Tank World" type theme park?

That Maus is not from WWII -- none of the Maus prototypes that were built ever saw combat. This fully assembled example (V2 turret mounted on V1 hull) was made by and tested at Kubinka in 1951/52 and can be seen today in the Museum. -- So the Museum made the Tank.

beached whale mod was set as:
in 1943 stalin was killed by german air strike(in reality it neally got him) and the russians lost, then the germans consentrated on england again, and in i think 1944/5 prepared to attack england as the story went...it was a fun little mod. had new maps and all. CoI u can make old plugins to new mod swap(there is a guide written),so maybe new CCV size maps can be added.

its a what if fictional mod, 5 centurians where sent to germany, but none saw combat, some people argue the same for russian JSIII. mause was also made for wwII, but never got even to production.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
