Started playing CC(5) month ago. Wanted more challenge and realism, so downloaded GJS4.4. Very good Mod. My only question: what is the most challenging setting from AI. Me Elite and AI recruit? Or Elite/Elite?

Btw. The germans are far more powerfull then Allied. (I play Elite; Allied recruit) Allied can bearly get off the beaches untill they knock out my artillery. At that time my reinforcements have arrived and their challenge against artillery starts again with tanks now on my side.

I'll try new realism Mod later.

Thx.

lol
already want more realism
what is ur opinion of realism?
dont play defence against computer, attack only.and attack fast and hard.
always take elite for urself and give pc recruit.
also when starting game select that enemy can always see ur men.
this helps a lot.

A game/mod that tries to simulate the battles, units, men, behavior as it was in reality. Getting a taste of how it was to be in battle.

The germans lost the campaign so somehow they should have more disadvantage even though they have more powerfull units. Maybe more airstrikes for AI when playing germans. I don't know.

You can play the game by just throwing unit after unit at the enemy without caring about the losses for example and win it that way. That's not realistic in my eyes. It's beating the game.

Anybody can play the game by his own personal rules or goals and enjoy the challenge. I like to play as if the soldiers are real people.

In this mod I like the huge maps and all the different units. The strategic map is also very good. I think it is very well done. Great mod.

Btw Thanks for your answer.

The germans lost Normandy because of Hitlers stupidness as high commander of german armies. He denied Rommels plan to attack the allies with 3 panzer divisions while they were assembling at the beaches. Also everyone was too frightened to wake up Hitler with bad news.

well History if u reread u can see i said nothing about the setting being realistic, but more of an aid to assist the AI play of course if the AI is already hard enuff u wont need it. Wink
he did ask about a challenging setting,i could rave on about how he should play h2h.but that is obvious to most.

Well, the stupidity of the AI in CC is unrealistic, and not that historical. So fix that and it would not be needed to have some favours to the AI.

But then it depends on the players scill to, I guess some have hard time beat the AI, then favours to AI make no sence...

while elite vs recruite setting helps in that matter to make it a little bit challanging

how about he does only use 3 squads ? that would be challanging

how about giving the enmy only tanks and you only infantry with one at team ? that would be challanging

of course the settings try to give the AI some help with dealing with us humans Wink

i don´t blame anyone who does it, but in my realism view these settings are a nono for me. an atrillery observer at some distant map corner blowing up an halftrack on the opposite site of it behind hills, woods and buildings when not in an higher position to see the HT, nope that is not my taste

With one Tiger I might be able to win battle against full stack of enemy, as long as they have a lot of vehicles and I have enough ammunition.
Me after the battle :castagne but still standing.

I don't like to let AI see all. I'm pretty sure it comes as standard with the battle of Berlin vetmod (the best for single player) and the clairvoiant tanks that shoot you're ambushing 88's down some obscure line of fire that you didn't see even though you just spent 15 mins working out the best place for it. Confused Mad . No, stick to normal play with a good old vetmod. Thinking of vetmods, is there one for GJS?

theres definitely no shame if u need to turn it off.
it gives more advantage to human player against ai.
but if u dont need advantage against ai sure turn it on for them.

It has nothing to do with advantage, AI or difficulty.

It is just totally unrealist!

If the AI sees all...no ambushes...no hidden guns. Where's the fun in that?

I would say that GJS isn't mad for playing aiganst AI, the maps are to big, try Utha mood if you want to play aiganst AI. Also, if you want a challenge aigainst PC, edit his sections, and give him what he needs to win.

well it makes the ai play better, thus they give u a better game.
i get fun from the ai be able to play better against me.
if i play same game with ai not able to see,the game is simply too easy
no challenge and definitely no fun,oh and cause i can kill ai even easier
that must be the realistic part,me whipping the ai.
thanks i see clearly now lol.

for me it really depends on the mod Im Playing and which side.. so for example, playing GJS against German Ai, I will allow the Ai to see my units (the assumption being that as defending force they have more "battle overview").. however if I play as germans I wont give the Americans see all. Same goes for Stalingrad,If I play as germans the soviets can see all.

Another little rule i made for myself-when defending against Ai I only deploy 10 units not 15...

Really the best deal is to play against Human opponents, but barring that, playing with settings can help a lot.
