Been deployed since September now. I have been out and about a lot since
I hit the ground. So much happened since then, too much to describe.
Should be a very busy tour. One thing I can say for sure is that over here
the most common activity that every soldier has in common is spending
a lot of time picking thier noses. Look at all the dust the choppers kick up!
Heres a small collage of pictures I have taken.

I've always thought about joining the Canadian Forces myself, but my parents won't allow it, haha.

I know because my older brother has tried.

That desert looks like there is snow.

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

I wonder how much more maintenance helicopters need when they are used in the desert.

Thanks for the pictures Mooxe - we're all glad you and your Borat style mustache made it back safely ;)

What is that AFV, the Opti one? Is it Canadian forces?
Why dont the vehicles carry better nationality markings? Is it because you're all NATO? There is a red flag on the second vehicle in DSCF0231_resize.JPG, but I dont recognize it.
Also - do you need to get clearance from commanders before posting photos? - just curious.

The "Opti" truck is the HSVS. Don;t ask me what it stands for but its a heavy support vehicle, can carry sea cans and tons and tons of supplies. The red flag you see is not a flag. Its a metal sign hanging from the from of an APC telling civilians to stay back a few hundred metres. IMO theres not much point in having large insignias stating what nationality a vehicle is, we dont have callsigns painted on either. There are small signs painted on, thats usually up to the crew of the vehicle and how good thier sense of humour is. Many vehicles have the transformer logo painted on the front, some have elaborate eagles, funny names etc etc. Basically theres no official markings on our vehicles, its a security thing, callsigns and nationalties shed light on strengths and weaknesses.

There are guidelines to posting images from tours, as far as I know I stay within them. I would need specific permissions if the pictures showed sensitive material, in which case the answer would be no.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
