Hi, I'm a newbie and I'm having probs with the mod. I've done all the stuff it says and can go into the game and play 1 player, but after loading all etc onto a 2nd computer and starting a H2H game it crashes when moving from the Battlegroup into the battle with the following error:
CC String Error
The game simply crashes out. Can please anyone help me, I'll reinforce you with a couple of Tigers and many thanks.

1.Close Combat 5 Battle of Berlin was made on the unpatched version of CC5 (5.00).
2.Didnt know at that time the importence of updating the exe to 5.01 (CCRescource.dll) That is the reason for the mp crash.
To solve this you can use the CCResource.dll from the patched version of CC 5 but then you will get "allies" instead of "russians" in the message window in the game.
Maybe you can borrow the CCResource.dll from Stalingrad mod (i dont think Dima will mind) and get the right nationalities.
3.The single battles sometimes crashes too, didnt know at that time the problems that Tesjd solved later

thanks so much for the help. I am still a bit bewildered as I have the patch and have updated both computers CC5 to 5.01. I also have the Stalingrad Mod and have played that awesome work with no probs (not tried mp yet however).
1) Do I need to go back to the CC5 unpatched version?
2) If I install the Stalingrad mod and then BOB mod still have not change. real sorry here as you have obviously answered and fixed this many times.
3) if I have Stalingrad mod, then I can use the CCresroucedll file updated(?) with that mod. Does this self update/install the file when using the config install? Or do I need to go find the file somewhere.
also tried the following with Patch 5.01 current and BOB install via config.
Did a search for the CCResource file and found a few, 1 was in Stalingrad Mode (although not to be seen when looking in folder). I copied this and put it on both computers) Still crashes. Of note, I did not installed Stalingrad at all on #2 computer for the H2H.
I have it in 95 and all seems to work much much better that way. A mate and I are devoted to this game as I see a lot more are and we have had probs but most have been fixed by making it 95.
I tried BOB with no patch, no work hehe, so I have now reinstalled CC5 and added the patch, the mods I have work again which is good as I lost all there for a while.
So, I have CC5, patch added, and BOB download ready, I understand how to use the config are hours and hours of experiment I thought I had it all but then the crash I get has thrown me. Orders? and thanks.
