I hear it's possible to get Close Combat 5 running on Ubuntu/Linux. I saw some key words, like WINE, and VMWARE. I've tried WINE and it said something about missing something in the registry. I haven't tried VmWare. Could anyone tell me how to get CC5 working in linux? I'm new to linux and don't know my way around it at all.

I know that real geeks have made the CD version of the game work but their instructions are indecipherable to us mere mortals.

Presumably you checked out these posts:

... and the links they contain?

1. Install WINE

2. just install from the Cd - Double click on the exe

3. Then run the Wine regedit - Turn off videos (otherwise "Format on Stream error)

4. Then run the wine file manager and double click cc3.exe

Voila!

I noticed at Wine HQ that the latest version has had its handling of .tga files improved. Presumably that is why it is suddenly working.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
