Hello everyone. I'm currently playing the Meuse Crossing mod against the AI. Progress has been relatively good so far - I already hold almost half of the campaign area, and the French line has collapsed at several points. In fact, I have reached the western end of the campaign area at Rocquigny, which also cuts off all the southern French supply depots. At the same time, I hold the northern French supply depot at Charleroi.
Unfortunately, late on the 13th, the French tank divisions started appearing from both north and south, including at least one that is equipped with Char B1s. I am about to fight my first battle against these heavy tanks.
I just want to ask, which German units can take on the Char B1? Based on my preliminary tests, it seems that anything under 2cm is ineffective, which renders the PzII useless. 37mm only seems to be effective from the side or rear. Even the 10cm Skoda field gun doesn't seem to be effective.
What units do the Germans have that can defeat these monsters? I'm pretty sure that I can win the campaign on my own; but since this forum exists, I might as well use it, right?

The early heavy tanks it's like the russinan kv1 ?
Slow and heavy but bad moral i think. The effectives seems to rush at them and immobilised it.
Fire at it until they surrender. The sturm gun seems effectiv against thes beast's.
But i havent tryed the Meuse Crossing

The PzB39 will not hurt a heavy tank, it even has trouble with the French med tanks. The Teller Mines or Geballte Ladung (bundled grenade) can destroy them if your infantry can get in close.
Also the Pz38 and 3.7 AT gun from short range and the rear/side can sometimes cause damage too. Like Jager said you do not have to always destroy the tank but disabling them and or causing the crew to panic works too.

I presume that a tank crew panicking leads to them abandoning their vehicle even though it has not been destroyed? But how can you make a tank crew panic without destroying the tank? I have heard of this happening in Close Combat from other players, but it hasn't happened to me as far as I can remember.
As for spontaneous tank abandonment, the only cases I can remember of it happening to me are cases where the vehicle is already virtually helpless. (for example, when a turretless tank gets immobilized and is being shot at from an angle from which they cannot shoot back. And also usually when most crew members have already been killed.)

Think it hapens often when the crew have a bad training and bad moral.
For me it often happens in the early war when i rush whit 2 panserIII 1 sturm gun.
The 2 panzer fire in the move often immobilise the enemy heavy tank. But the Russian heavy tank use to fire one shot and immobilise 1 of mine then they surrender
A good example is in CCIII Russian front The battle for kremlin a russian city map whit walls
I cant win if i fight a static battle, but if I use the blitzkrieg tactic the enemy tanks often surrender.
I think they are Conscripts so they have low moral. And perhaps they panic when they see lots of enemys.
Otherwise Some times russian crew abandon there tank when faced against a opponent that they cant hurt like a Tiger or a panther if your close enough they probably surrender

That reminds me that sometimes, in CC5, when you order infantry to rush a tank and they get in too close for the tank's weapons to hit them, they just stand there. They'll just stand there right beside the tank, with both sides unable to hit the other. Strange.
Just being near a tank must be scary, though, because the infantry eventually panic, even though the tank isn't doing anything.
