Hell I can remember that like yesterday Laughing , it was the Panzer Blitz by AH. Fantastic game played with little cardboard counters on a map made up of I think, 3 pieces, all the counters had pictures of the Tank or whatever on them.
I started playing it with a pal on Sunday afternoons (in those days the pubs used to shut at 2pm) when I was 16. We would play all afternoon until it was time to go dancing in the evening, sometimes even then getting so carried away and leaving some poor girl a 'Wargame Widow' for 1/2 hour Evil or Very Mad.

Happy Memories Smile

My first ever PC strat game must have been V for Victory, Vignaluka;
Strange that no one has mentioned this game, it was a map with squares and units to be placed on top eachother.

Great game.

Of course I have the whole CC series and my first H2H was CC5 of course Very Happy

My first Wargame.. hmm er well Ill start the counting by the first 386 game i played H2H (over a serial port i believe) called Retaliator .
Basicallya jet fighter simulation.

The next H2H game i played was called Command HQ , a global war for the whole planet including Spy satalites and Nukes,which was great!

I consider Romance of the Three Kingdoms (I think version 3) my first wargame, back on the Sega Genesis, circa 1990. That game was so innovative, I think it would still be a great game today.

My first computer wargame Close Combat I the day it was released (I worked at a computer store and plucked the first copy out of the box)

Panzer General was a completely amazing game, and my first strategic level wargame. I tried to take it to the next level with East Front II, but found controlling all the minutia quite dull.

Hearts of Iron was a great game, but after playing it for a couple months I kept thinking of what it lacked. HOI needed a more complex economic/political aspect. Developers could have learned some things from Romance of the Three Kingdoms!

"Nether Earth"... that`s the name of my first computer (Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K) played strategy game. It was some kind of futuristic war between giant robots. First you had to assemble them, choosing armor, weapons, engine etc, then send to battle. Then came "Tobruk" (no need to describe it, right?). Year - 1985, I think

Risk was the first wargame I played. But for PC, the first was either Close Combat 3 or Red Alert.
