Hey Guys,
Here are two maps of the reichswald. These two maps cover about the entire western border of the reichswald where British infantry and armor had to fight its way trough the first line of german defense.
Cheers,
Buck

Just two other maps:
Hekkens, a small hamlet situated on the crossroads of the Kleve-Gennep road and the road between Groesbeek and Goch. This was the site of heavy combat between the german defenders and the attacking 51st ID.
Kleve-Gennep road is a map which was site of the first real stiff Germans who where almost put with their backs up to the edge of the forest having to defend the vital road between Kleve and Goch.

And just another map:
Materborn Gap: This town just south of Kleve was scene of heavy fighting as it was on the road between Kleve and Gennep. Capturing this part of the area would give the allies the advantage of highgrounds in order to continue their attacks towards both Goch and Kleve.
Cheers,
Buck

Hey Co and Trip thanks for your compliments. The project is gradually picking up speed.
Calcar Ridge this ridge was one of the last defense lines before the allies where actually able to take on the Hochwald forest defences.
Goch-Calcar Road. This slow ascending terrain was the site of intensive fightings. The candians had to cross the open terrain hopping from farm to farm. One of these farms might be known amongst some of you as the Mooshof
Mooshof
Sonsbeck. A small town just south of the Hochwald heavilly bombarded by the RAF in preperation of the assault.
Bonninghart Forst: A highground coverd with woods which lay in between Kevelaer and Alpen. It was the site of some very heavy rear guard actions of the germans FJ and the advancing Grenadier Guards. The actual town to be seen here is the hamlet of Meckelrath and its western approaches which was coverd with AT guns an FJ's using at weapons as effective as they could.
Cheers Buck

nice mapping buck and team! its going pretty well.
Did someone seen the german propaganda film series 'Krieg am Niederrhein' ?
I did not see it yet, but from what i have read:
It seems that the campaign at rhein opened up all registers.. invasion, heavy bombarding, tank battles, amphibious operations. man2man fighting, heavy rain, snow, frozen rivers and roads, mud and attrition, air landings, paratroopers..
it' was a very versitile campaign in the war !
I hope you have this all covered Buck should make up for a lot of strategic and tactical issues and choices
greets!

Hey Chessmaster,
Thanks for the comments! Yes Pete has send me a copy of it and I have partially had a look at it. Yes it was a mix of almost everything. I believe the Battle of the Rhein is the longest battle on the western front. Lasting from september 1944 until march 1945...
Well there will be a lot of mud, small river crossings, forests, towns rolling terrain etc etc.
Cheers Buck
