hi all just trying to get cc5 to work on a friends laptop and hes on xp. the game will not install and stops at 84% saying component transfer error-
component : required data files
file group:  graphics files
files:  d:data2.cab
error : data error (cyclic redunduncy check)

any help would be appreciated .
also tried running setup in 98 and 95 but no good. cant do administrator because its asking for a password and we dont know it because his laptop was bought 2nd hand

hi

are you using a download? Or it the game from a disc?

i think cyclic redunduncy check means that some data is missing from the overall "mother" file

did you try installing on different pc?

i have the game on my laptop and was using the same game for his. its the original game i bought i few years ago.

cd is fine i had to reinstall on mine and did that ok

not sure what you mean? in the same file? i just tried to install where it automatically installs

i meant to make sure the cd drive is working properly by installing another program using a cd rom

just wondering now how is it possible to play without going onto the internet wih 2 laptops? can i just plug in the cable to both laptops to do a lan game?

yeah sure just make a LAN, plug in the cable and see if CC finds the other pc

otherwise set up a LAN through your control panel on either laptops

how do i do a lan game through the actual game? i can only see internet connections and serial?
