I posted this at Matrixgames, what do you guys think about these ideas?

Hi all,

What do you think about integrating say a MG and an AT/recon team to infantry platoons? As it is now your only chance to have AT capabilities or some extra firepower on an infantry BG is if you choose them in support which sometimes only has like 4 spots.

Integrating these assets will be like in old CC5 platoon compositions, be it 1 HQ team, 1 light infantry, 1 heavy/med infantry, 1 AT team and 1 MG team.

Also giving the german pzGrenadieres an Half-track or truck to their platoons so they have that extra mobility and so those teams get some action. Or giving the half-track a team of infantry so they are not completely useless but I don't know how doable is that.

Other thing is, how much are the support teams representing? are they the actual historical numbers or just a fraction? they seem like there are too many support teams for so little slots. Like sometimes there are platoons worth of engineers and guns what seems the allocation for the whole division not just your company. What are the other guys using then??

I think integrating scouts/AT teams/HMG with infantry platoons would be a good idea. Playing with platoons of only PzGrenadiers and one support platoon with different support units feels kinda boring, and it would free up some slots in the support platoon if "normal" support units like HMG or AT teams were integrated into the infantry platoon.

What I'd really like to see is more than 4 or 5 men per german infantry unit, and the 21 open slots we've been promised. Sad

I'm experimenting right now in adding either 1 or 2 SDkfz 251 troop carriers to each PzGren (gp) platoon and trucks to the other panzergrenadieres.

Also planning on putting the Kompaniechef in the first platoon of each company and outright disbanding the organic company support by distribuiting the PzSchrecks and MG's among the company's platoons.

So the PzGren 1st platoon would look like:

1xHQ (Company leader)
2x Troop 1 (Leader)
2x Troop 2 (NCO)
1x Transport
1x PzChreck/AT team/MG

There can be various types of platoons so there's more variety and combine them within the companies. Like the first platoon would have the transports, the second platoon would have more pzschrecks and the third will have more MG's.

I like the limit of slots though, it makes for tactical size of force (number of units you can field in the battlefield) not just strategically (Number of units in your force pool) so a BG representing a company will have very big troubles if it is faced against a BG representing a regiment.
