Firstly shortcuts tied to uncomfortable button. Somewhere there was a topic about replacing them ...
Secondly, I have not seen enemy with whom I would have to use all features.
Dima can play better. Here he inexplicably did not use offboard arty(???).
Also failed the first battle. I did not take the road to Bayeux, because further game lost interest.

Numbered teams.... Pick a team and press CRTL 1 to number it. I do this for mortars. While I am scanning the map for targets, if I see one I just press 1, V, mouse click my target. No selecting the team from the info bar or no scrolling the map to click the team, no selecting fire commands. Left hand does the admin, right hand does the business. I do this for support teams, the numbering only works up to about 5. Any more than that I forget what teams I assigned to them.
You can certainly play Close Combat and be good without the keyboard or numbered teams. However using the keyboard and numbered teams will definitely relay your orders quicker, that is unquestionable. They work best with mortars and running troops.
Another example of keyboard use is when you see yellow smoke on your infantry, click and drag and press M!

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
