New US Attorney General files charges against the long know corruption in FIFA.  The protesters marching the streets of Brazil finally got their wish. Everyone knew FIFA was corrupt.  Now Putin in Russia gives his best lie yet saying it is an American conspiracy to prevent FIFA from hosting the World Cup in Russia...and that Crook president of FIFA plays dumb.
FIFA also presides over Americas ( both US and Latin America ) tournaments and has been caught in numerous criminal schemes including money laundering, bribery and other various corruption charges.

The worst part which nobody hardly bothers to mention is how already in Qatar, hundreds or even over 1000 workers have perished in slave labor like conditions building new stadiums.

Brazil also suffered an alarming number of fatalities by construction works whom also had slave labor type working conditions and much of the costs were paid for by Brazilian tax payers instead of corrupt FIFA.

I wouldn't dismiss the claims that the FBI's decision to prosecute had a lot to do with harming the games in east Europe and distracting attention away from the protests about Israels involvement in the game.

ya know.. so they can hurt there oppositions economy and prevent the public perception that Israel is a evil country.

But still. Good to see the fuckers face justice.

Hey, why is there so much support for the leader of FIFA? Why does everyone like him so much?

Many have said Blatter is guilty of corruption but still no one has presented any evidence. Like many other sports that have had corruption scandals - cycling, boxing, cricket etc. Some Officials involved caught and dealt with on evidence not on conjecture. Surely putting in the Jordan Prince wasn't going to solve anything. Jordan is another dictatorship that openly sponsors ISIS and other groups. This move would be from bad to insane. Guess many these days don't look before they leap.

What's that thing about innocent til proved guilty. Just more words.

You do not understand how the U.S. criminal justice system works.  The Attorney General has to have 100% solid evidence before she can even consider filing charges and making this into an international case.  They have PLENTY of evidence, the trial has not even started yet.  Most likely an informant presented evidence to avoid jail time or serious charges. MANY other nations have been complaining for years about Blatter and FIFA.  Did you not take notice to the 1000's of protesters in Brazil last year about FIFA?  The protestors almost started a riot and the Brazilian police had their hands full.  Do you think the hundreds of slave labor workers that have already perished in Qatar is also America's fault?

Although I do agree that corruption in sports is a much broader problem for decades with hardly anyone getting caught yet alone punished.  I'm just glad that finally somebody tried to put a stop to it for one sport at least.  Yes it is also true that a lot of the Arab state "allies" that are supposedly friends of America are in reality bankrolling ISIS.  Especially since Iran is aiding and abetting the Govt forces led by Shia's.  Sports is no different than any other Big $ industry with no concerns about ethics and it is all about the $.  Even if people die in slave labor camps by the hundreds.

It was a US FIFA Official who is the informant and is also an accused. The timing wasn't by chance as the under 20 FIFA World Cup was due to kickoff ( New Zealand ) hours after the disclosure and arrest of the other Officials. I'm pretty sure we have all seen where evidence given in all courts has turned out to nothing short of a joke but taken seriously at the time, then released to the media. It's been too much of a trial by media already and they were primed ready to deliver their Police provided statements verbatim immediately - no investigative journalism required. There is corruption in FIFA but also rats running the investigation at the very best. This Prince from Jordan is just another patsie.

This on top of the re-election bid by Blatter was designed to cause maximum damage to his reputation. Otherwise why wasn't he also arrested also - no evidence against him.

Look both of their national sports they are the world champs at - American Footy for USA and Oz Rules for Australia. Little surprise as not too many other countries play those National identified sports. Minnows like their teams just fill the gaps provided by FIFA. You think they would be great full. Otherwise if the best from around the world could only attend the World Cup there would be no USA or Australia.

If it looks like a rat, smells like a rat, sounds like a rat, and acts like a rat, is it still a rat?  Not according to Putin of course.  Must be some type of Yankee agenda to find an angle against Russia according to him.

So you are the only person outside of the FBI that has the evidence that he is guilty. Do you mind sharing it with us. Or does that great democracy ideology - innocent til proved guilty mean anything. Many people resign from positions during investigations to save their Corporations further disrepute. The act is actually an honourable thing to do. That's not saying that he is innocent or guilty but fools jump in where there is no evidence presented. Lets wait and see. Remember evidence is thing thing that was missing in Iraqi that the US said exisited and the gullible never questioned. Freedom of speech is for fools, the freedom to question is everything.

Show us please.

Yes lets all believe the president of FIFA is innocent while all the dominoes fall around him. Come on Sod, is it just because it's an American led investigation? He's the president, and his organization is corrupted, do we not hold him responsible? Sure we haven't been presented the evidence yet, but with people inside FIFA commenting that this finally happened, his resignation, the other arrests... is there any doubt REALLY?

PostPosted: Thu Jun 04, 2015 7:41 pm Post subject: Re: FIFA finally caught for corruption, no surprise Reply with quote

Perhaps Mr. Blatter personally may not be corrupt but he is responsible for his vice-president Mr. Valcke who has now been linked to an alledged 10 milion dollar bribe  link. Blatter has worked at Fifa for 40 years of which the last 17 years as the president. If he was not aware of bribery and corruption among his associates or board members he is either deaf-blind or completely incompetent. As neither is the case he stands as much chance of being indicted as his fellow Fifa officials.
I believe that one of the reasons Blatter managed to be re-elected several times was his ability to gain the support of the football associations of the lesser developed football countries, in Asia, the Pacific and Africa. In those parts of the world he is regarded as a great benefactor of their footballing aspirations. This may not involve direct bribery but rather financial funding that the poorer countries badly need in order to construct and maintain football facilities.
More on Fifa practice can be read in the book "Fifa Maffia" by German author Thomas Kistner Fifa Maffia It is just a giant money-making machine.

The Netherlands and Belgium made a joint bid on the World Cup 2022 that Qatar won. I recall that one of the topics of discussion was that Fifa demanded all income to be tax free. In essence this would mean that The Netherlands would not directly financially benefit from organising the world cup. Apparently other nations found these demands less of problem. The fact that Qatar, a 2 million people desert nation won is beyond preposterous.

A bidding nation that won the world cup 2018 or 2022 bid does not necessarily have to bribe Fifa board officials. They need the support of the voting members and bribes can be made in many disguises, such as development programmes in 3rd world countries, or awarding contruction bids to large companies in voting countries. That way financial transactions can be made perfectly legal and the FBI investigators will be having a hard time proving otherwise.
