The mother of all leaks...international scandal:

"About half the 13.4 million Paradise Papers files come from Appleby and Bermuda-based corporate services provider Estera, which split off from Appleby late last year. The records span everything from correspondence with clients and financial statements to internal company memos, emails and database entries.

The rest of the leaked records are from another offshore services firm called Asiaciti Trust based Singapore, as well as 19 corporate registries maintained by governments in other tax-haven jurisdictions.

In addition to disclosures about heads of state and corporations, the files reveal details about the financial lives of the rich and famous.

Russian billionaires

While having an offshore account or company is often legal, the built-in anonymity of tax havens tends to also attract money launderers, drug and arms traffickers, tax evaders and others engaged in questionable conduct, the leaked records show."

Interesting story. There was a book published here in NZ called the Paradise Conspiracy based on the Cook Islands tax haven some years ago. Where some of the NZ wealthy hid their money from the tax man. Also individuals of the Govt of the day were taking bribes - nothing happened and NZ was deemed 2nd in the world for it's low corruption..........lol. It's the same the world over sadly. Only Govt's can close these loop holes .....................if they want to. NZ to this day is a tax haven for foreign investment only but with a new change in Govt ( Socialist ) this could change also go hopefully.

"The ICIJ Offshore Leaks database allows you to search through almost 500,000 offshore companies and trusts - more than 200,000 were registered by the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, whose inner workings were exposed in the Panama Papers, and 100,000 entities incorporated through Portcullis Trustnet and Commonwealth Trust Limited, two offshore service providers exposed as part of the 2013 ICIJ Offshore Leaks investigation. On November 5, 2017, ICIJ added data from some politicians featured in the Paradise Papers investigation. ICIJ will release the full structured data from the Paradise Papers investigation in the coming weeks."

Glad I was able to help.  It's an investigative journalist or college student's treasure trove.

Now there is one even better Pandora Papers:
https://www.icij.org/investigations/pandora-papers/

When I was a college student, did paper on BCCI scandal...similar in nature.

Do you believe the 19 Russians listed are innocent and honest businessmen?

Admittedly I found the framework of this site to be difficult to follow.  I had to hunt to find the 2 articles that cited Real Estate money laundering haven in USA & Global banks ignoring laws.
Interesting one Drug Cartel even has designed custom deposit envelopes to stash their drug deals.

It was frustrating they don't have simple linear categories to sort.  For example they cited Wilber Ross in one article and his ownership stake in Russian shipping business but don't itemize his holdings.  The only American I could find was Paul Mannafort but that's ancient news.

I'm just noted strange geographical selectiveness of 'Papers'. And it reminds me an old anekdot:

Putin and G.W.Bush, in visit in Russia, comes to fishing.  Bush is constantly bited by gnats, while Putin sits still, with no one touching him. Bush asking:
- Vlad, why the mosquitoes didn't harm you, unlike me?
- It`s not allowed.

Yes but something to note is that this is like "Open Source" style format.  Maybe more Russian informants?  Especially if they launder money  in Real Estate.  Russian Oligarch system seems to be state-sanctioned thus no need for secrecy.  Whereas Americans like Paul Mannafort and Wilbur Ross are much more deceptive.  Banks are not the police but it's the easiest way to source criminal conduct.  Bitcoin is not so secret also it has ledger does not lie.  Many American crooks too obviously many more than Paul Mannafort and Wilbur Ross...just frustrating they don't document on the Global Map, I agree.
