ITALY.... One of the crew was interred in the nearby cemetery but the remainder of the crew were MIA.

Aircraft parts and human bones were found at the site and repatriated to America for identification.

The B-25 Mitchell bomber was made famous by the daring Doolittle raid on Japan off aircraft carriers.

The first air raid on Japan of the Second World War.

Interesting thanks for sharing.  However the author is a bit sloppy.  B-25 Mitchell certainly is NOT "heavy" bomber.  Barely even meets criteria for medium size bomber.

Guessing the German military records were used as the source for tracking remains and location.  I wonder if they requested help from German government.  Germans must have had some flak AA guns hiding in ambush.  Americans became more careful later in war 1943 was bloodbath.  At one point in '43 Americans were on the verge of losing the battle for air supremacy and learned costly lessons that year.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
