Close Combat Series -> H2H Multiplayer

The goal of the operation would be to just finish it with multiple players. Having more players should give it a better chance of getting to the end of a campaign. Players can drop out, and new players recruited. We'll try to keep it at least a 2v2. It will no doubt be slow going, but probably faster than a 1v1.

Last player attaches GC file to a post in this thread.
Hopefully he will post a short summary of what happened.
Next player posts CHECKED OUT so we all know file is in use.


Rules

- 15minute timer
- Morale off
- Initiative off
- Deploy Rule
- No mod updates after it starts
- If there is a crash at end game, players decide on what to do: territory rebuild or refight

If you are interested, reply with a version you'd like to play.

2.-Stalingrad v1.2 CC5
3.- Battle for Caen TLD

Just thinking out loud here but is COI with MMCCIII an option?
Or is that just you against the A.I? (I never used it so I don't know)
And am I correct that there was/is a Bloody Omaha Mod for that?

I'm pretty much open to anything that's not a Stock Game should I own the version that get decided.
I load GameRanger when time permits but have yet to find an opponent.
I did find one guy a few weeks back to play a GC in WAR but unfortunately he lives in Europe and after the game began I just instantly hated the Stock version of WAR,and the settings we chose.

Are the GameRanger Forums an option to help gain intrest?

I don't think MMCCIII is running anymore, not sure if it ever was available for BO.

Stalingrad is something we could all agree on I think.

Asking for opponents on GR or Matrix forums would probably help... would you do that?

So how long will it be? how many maps? how many BG's?

MMCCIII intrigues me as I still to this day do not fully understand it, but the option to have the point-buy system of CC3 with the Strat map of CC5 seems like the best thing in CC ever.

Heres an OP we could use. I have played it once before in the Mercs vs Pzt series of fights. Very nice Op, also just started one with Ivan. I am really not interested in a GC, it would take way to long, in any mod.

I don't know this Mod at all.
Played a GC against the AI back when it first came out.

I should be able to play Mon.-Wed. nightly CST,USA
And all day on Thursdays.

3 battles up, 3 losses for the soviets one BG cut-off from supplies. I'm sorry comrades I think I did a bad job containing the fascist hordes.

Its now the evening round. I expect Russian to retreat some in order to force the germans to slog through the cities. Significant ground made on all three maps. Unfortunately my screencaps were not taking.

One thing that needs addressing in this mod is that a lot of roofless buildings complex have their walls coded like level 2, thus giving LOS as if on second floor, can't use the buildings as screens because the moment you are on one of those walls you get shot at by teams that should not get LOS on you.

Couple more battles played vs Antony_nz.

Stadium battle turned into a meeting engagement. This was a land grab to position for next battle. West Stalingrad is now cut off, if there is a Russian unit in there.

The Russians at the Train Terminal are cut off. There was an attempt to regain it, as well as the Germans supply line, both failed. German infantry finished mopping up the build up areas of the map. Russian are stuck in the South.

Next battles are Minina and Kuporosnoye. I'll leave these up to Platoon_Michael for a couple days. The Russians in Minina are cut off.

The 1st battle im pleased i didn't take ridiculous loses. And i was able to take out a tank for a tank. But i shouldn't of taken any AT guns. And i could of made better ground.  As for the 2nd battle, Its not good we are cut off. I was expecting a infantry/tank attack.
Even though he squashed my build ups im glad he got a few bloody noses for it. And i didn't lose allot of ground. I think we both played Some what cautiously..

As for deployment on the strategic map... Embarassed  
Ill let that be open for commentary or criticism.

Ok so I've now found this op after looking for it last week, what do I do with it when I download it? which folder does it go into?

It goes into the C:\Program Files (x86)\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Games\Save folder.

Bushuk if you are officially joining the Op, you would be with me and Platoon_Michael. Your opponents are Kanov, Ivan and Antony.

Ok I'm slowly getting there with this one, I've now downloaded the .gc file to the above location (instead of the Op file which is what I was talking about), it now shows up as a save game in CC.

However when I look in the save folder I can't see the file (nor any others for that matter) it must be there because if I download again it asks me if I want to overwrite it. Are these files hidden? If I do join in I need to be able to find it and upload it back to the forum.

Also I am automatically taken into the game on the German side, how is this determined does it depend on who you downloaded it from?

If you downloaded my version, its the German side. All files I upload will be German side. If you find an opponent who is hosting, you do not require the file. The only two reasons you require the file are to host, and to look at the strategic situation on your own.

Two battles played vs Antony. No screenshots this time.

Minina - Germans advanced into the three of the seven five story barracks in the NE corner. Tons of casualties both sides.

Kuporosnoye - Germans advanced Northwards mainly on East side of map. Captured many of the ruins. Lost one tank, Russians lose two more T34s, one ATG and an OT-133 Flametank.

Strategic moves are next.

Have just seen this, would have liked to play but on Anthony_nz side.
My 2c, stalingrad is a terrible choice, certain victory for Germans in every GC/Op I've played to date. I stand to be corrected.

Should do it some time.

Who cares if we only get a few battles done a year. Doesn't matter. I like the system and the way the save game gets uploaded.

My next vote is Meuse. (never properly played it) or Africa. Or a pocket mod.

I think the player should control a certain nationality,unit, or General that is in command. Doing so will make the battle more meaningful to the individual player. (Thats what team op does already i think)

Some mods split a division into multiple units to represent the unit being spread out. Or some mods show a certain generals face for more than 1 unit. And of course some mods show more than 1 nationality in 1 battle.

I bet allot of people did this back in the day with CC2

This isn't the Glory Days of online CC.

I see no reason why anyone would have a time frame for this to be completed.

I gave it almost a full month and we didn't make it to day 2 in an Op. And since then I have barely seen anyone online to play it. Its not fun wanting to play a game to only have people only come by a couple times a month. You basically have to be logged into GameRanger 24/7 just to see a glimpse of the people who signed up. By all means continue, and see how far you get.
