On the Pointe Du Hoc photo you can really see how the cliff has eroded away. On my last visit there in 2002, the forward observation bunker was off limits due to the cliff's erosion. I wonder if its open today.

Anyone know the story behind the downed allied plane on the beach?

Mooxe, 7A_Bjorn was just at Pointe Du Hoc two weeks ago.  I'll ask him.
