I just want to know a little bit about these games, such as the good and bad points of each game and a score out of 10 for each game.

The thing is, is that I have CC3 so my intention to buy COI is quite low. So, I am shifting to buy either MT or WAR. Don't be biased by the way; I want to see the community's opinion on these 3 games.

It really comes down to if you want only singles battles (CCMT) or if you want campaigns/operations with a Strat map.

CCMT
+ best editor in CC
+ multiplayer that is more than just H2H

WAR
+ CC5 with bug fixes and enhancements
+ can run TLD and WAR mods

I like TLD better than WAR, mainly because of the cosmetic fixes.

I always thought Ardennes wasn't a good conflict to depict in CC, as it is armor intensive.

LSA is by far my fav CC title to date. Love the strat map. Love the balance. You can actually have a challenging GC vs the AI.

Well, Uberdave, I have TLD and I love it. What do you prefer though, WAR, COI or MT?

WAR.

I liked CC3 for a month. Then I discovered CC4. Then I played CC5 and liked it better.

Never really liked COI, because I was never a huge fan of CC3. It seems that if you preferred CC3 over 4/5, then you'd like COI the best.

I've never played CCMT. Anything to do with 'modern warfare' is too political and turns me off completely. I like games with a historical context. Not something straight off the evening news. Smile

Haha is that WAR then on the poll?

My preference is CoI

of the strat level games WaR as that has a map that doesn't just involve butting your head up against the enemy for the entire battle.

War at least gives you some alternative routes to take and strategic decisions....

but i get tired of the all white maps though.

Add your choice to the poll, I need the choices in the poll. I may buy the one which is the highest - according to reviews and stuff like that.

I disagree,
The Ardennes is Great for a player to use both Offensive and Defensive tactics.
CCIV was very good at that.

WAR is ok with it.
Stock Mod for WAR is slightly better but not as good as what CCIV is.

I agree with plt_michael in that WaR offers the best offensive/defensive options of the Strat. map series of games.

I couldn't stand CC4 though.

CoI offers a similar mix of offensive and defensive options

@ pltn-Mike Nah, CCIV was the worst of the series...too ambitious with the armor. We'll have to agree to disagree. :)

@ schrecken - Disagree. LSA's strat map is by far the most challenging, with bridges and key choke points playing vital roles.

I think CC4 Classic. I have Yuma's maps in their own mod, and then there are a few more expanded CCIV maps in WAR.

I have got all the CCIV maps ready for WW2 action using CCMT.

I only allow two vehicles per side max, and the smaller maps are perfect for single battles. Village fighting is the best.

@ Shcrecken - I didn't read the whole thread. Are you Andrew Williams or something?  He didn't seem to have an easy time with it.

@ Stwa - IMO, if played the way you describe (limited vehicles), then Ardennes/BoB is much more playable...especially on those cramped maps.

Great point. Both sides had plenty of room to maneuver. Developers didn't just flat out put in a attack zone area, leaving it up to the player (AI) or players (H2H) to determine where the conflicts would occur. Another reason the campaign takes a considerable time to get old.. Can take multiple routes, not one forced upon you.

Yeah Schreck.. "Snow blind" is bothersome, but guess they figured keep it real as possible with all that?

Wacht am Rhein still gives me difficulties in maneuvering on the strategic map.

Its a strategic map that was very well done.
Huge Bottlenecks
And a double envelope option if you so choose to do.

yeh, that's me.

All maps but 6 were won in 1 single battle.. as close as can be to a walkover.. H2h not just v the AI.

TLD is much the same, little or no decisions to make just do as tasked robotically.

WaR you get to make decisions on both sides of the battle.

i haven't played GTC yet, but the map looks the same, no choices to make just barge ahead butting your head until the opposition submits.
