I’m leaving,

I’m getting divorced after 24 years and am making the decisions I need to move on with my life.
I first discovered CCIV from a demo download through CNet

From there I was hooked.
I played on the MSZone
TrueGreen was the Mod to have when I first joined.
There was no TT’s VET Mod to play back then.
And when the Zone was cancelled I played through MSN Instant Messenger.

I started out in the Platoon Clan, hence the name Platoon Michael.
Been my name for years minus the time I spent in the AA_Clan.
I can remember when GJS and Stalingrad where just forums and not yet finished Mods.
I can remember when Meuse was the Worst Mod in the world to try and install!
You guys really need to thank tejszd for what he’s done with that Mod.

I can remember when CCS first started.
A site that was depicted to never make it.
A site created for those who’s only interest was bashing CC.

Not supporting it.

Look how that changed. ?

I’ve had enough disappointment to last me two life times.
My son was born deaf.
We decided a Cochlear Implant was best for our son.
My son was 3 ½ when he received his first implant.
Most kids start talking at 2 or 2.5 years old.
My son couldn’t hear until he was 3.5 years old.
Virginia however is widely a deaf community.
Most of them frown on the implant.

The school district we lived in couldn’t or wouldn’t provide what he needed in education.

So we commuted him to another school district and hour and a half away.
In good traffic.
Then 911 hit.
The Sniper shootings then followed. Then the Anthrax Mail.
Traffic got worse.
Then even shut down the beltway one time after a shooting…I didn’t make it to work that day.
Sell our house and move you say?

We tried that.
Even in the Hey day when the housing Market was at full swing our house wouldn’t sell.
We had multiple contracts.
Only to have each one back out every time.

One couple even bought house 2 doors down, rather than buy our house.

Then we hear about a school in Missouri.
St. Josephs Institute for the Deaf.

We fly out there.
The school is Awesowe, everything a parent could want.
They evaluated our son and said they would get back to us.

Three weeks later they called and said they could help us.
It was going to cost $32,000 a year to dorm school him.
I made 52 K a year.

The real-estate agent for the couple who bought a house 2 doors down left us her card and told us she could sell the house back when that couple backed out.
We called her.

She sold the house…..

We moved to Missouri.

Where I experienced the most beautiful thing in my life.
My son started talking.
And he talked on his OWN, There was no coaxing, he just did it.
I have never in my life met so many beautiful people.
I have never in my life met so many people who put others and their families before themselves or their family’s.

I’ve worked on CCIV
And Wacht am Rhein
Ive done the best I could do.

I hope you enjoy the work.
And I hope you live long and happy lives.

Im tired of watching nothing go on for CC.
While I love the game I just cant stand the disappointments that come with each release.

Instead of leaving... theirs always terrorism to settle your grievances.
I would recommend that after bloody first. If necessary.

Sad news about the divorce Michael.

I agree if all this CC situation is putting unnecessary stress on you, then you should distance. It is indeed just a game but it may mean more for some people.

I hope you get your shit together and someday read or see something about you again. Hope your son gets better as he grows older and that your situations improves.

Definitely agree that CC has been a roller coaster and not always a positive distraction (especially when you care/like it so much). Taking some time and trying something different could be good and doesn't have to be for good.

Life, sometimes both a curse and a blessing, trying and rewarding at the same time. I hope your personal life will make a change for the better soon. For myself, I find in CC a welcome refuge and an aid to push negative thoughts to the back of my mind.

You guys arent getting it.

It isn't CC that's pushing me away,its life in general.
