Those that try will be put off by the lobby that always looks empty. However, the lobby only shows people who are not playing so you never know how many people are actually in there playing.

The lobby really isn't that good. It's far easier to get a match by either messaging someone else, or by at least showing everyone else you're in the game and waiting to play.
