I am making this thread because I would like to see your unique in game shots, followed by some kind of story of the event explaining it. It could be anything from a single battle or a campaign with the stock games or even a mod.  It could be an interesting event, medals, kills, unique skills, strategy map, squad events, anything worthy of a shot to show!

I will start things off with this capture and medal earned by this soldier repelling multiple waves on enemies during the Tunisia campaign. I don't know the medal but if you know please tell me what it is.

Vobbnobb,

I think that medal is the King George V Issue for the British. Second highest for them, highest is the Victoria Cross.

Don't have a lot of screen caps myself, here's one from my long Winter War - campaign for CC 5 as the Finns. I did my best to contain the Soviet tide and not falling behind the Mannerheim line. Did take a lot of casualties. Never found a way to destroy the immobilised Soviet tanks, they always took out my infantry that tried to creep up on them.

After taking that pic the Soviets actually did break through my defences and I did end up losing much of the ground south of the Mannerheim line.

I thought it may be Canadian but unsure. Doesn't the game account for Canadian medals or were they the same as British? Did your supply routes get cut?  Never heard of that mod will have to try.  thanks

hello:

A tactic that I use in CC3/COI Stalingrad Maps (maps 2 and 3), mortar fire against the flammable stockpiles located near VL or key places. It's like fishing, sometimes only kill a few soldiers, sometimes only a huge explosion and some times you catch some interesting...

This is a old capture (May 2002) using ImprPant key + paste in Paint after the game and cropped to reduce space.

Bye

For me it's Snipers in CC3 that I like to keep alive. There's something particularly satisfying about reaching Berlin with a Major with a fruit salad on his chest.

Hello:

Err, it's a Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) the second highest award in the US Army.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distinguished_Service_Cross_(United_States)

The medal images sometimes are too small to identificate the specific award. For example I needed to check in the web the ribbons designs to diferenciate Silver Star from Bronze Star.

I haven't images of the Medal of Honor in the game.

Bye

It's getting pretty ridiculous with the Terminator Squad. That first Medal of Honour was with an adjusted opponent. This time it was with the AI selecting what it wants to use, so fairer.

Early days in CC4 GC Simmerath map, all looked lost until this Med AT gun nailed a Platoon Leader h-track then a rocket h-track, then 2 Panthers back to back, all in about 10 seconds. It turned the tide of the battle and I watched the infantry crawl away.
I hope I can keep this gun alive for a few more turns, although against KG Peiper the odds arent great!

I'm not quite sure myself. I think the prisoners he captured would have boosted the score he received that triggered the medal when included on top of the kills.

I'm learning to really hate this map. Another Platoon of Tiger tanks went into the grinder though.

Private McQueen toasted a kitty and a mortar carrier. As a good Canadian lad who was brought up well he was overheard to be shouting out "Sorrysorrysorrysorry!" as the Tiger's commander was running around on fire.

I'm tempted to revisit my childhood and do a modified weapons.adb like how I used to make .ini files for Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun: Rifles that fire 152mm HE shells, flamethrower machineguns and tanks that move 10x the speed and have multiple weapons platforms on them. Certainly not historically accurate but can be a lot of fun to play. A friend from school used to give the Hinds flamethrowers and I gave the Apaches nuclear missiles.

My problem now though is that soldier with the flamethrower, I'm going to be overly protective of him - something I can't say for most of the tank drivers. I'm not sure if its something to do with the maps or the pathfinding but I'm almost tempted to join the Germans in shooting the drivers of the tanks I've got given how badly they're performing compared to in CC3.

I was thinking of trying to port in the wrecks and some of the tanks from Stalingrad for CC5. I'm not sure exactly how to go about transferring between game versions though. Are there different bit rates and sizes to change?

#44: Re: The screenshot thread WWII Author: ScnelleMeyer PostPosted: Tue Mar 27, 2018 5:11 am

To change out the graphics is easy enough. Just unpack and change the old ones for your new 16bit tga images. A limitation has been that you could only replace a wreck that was already present, with a new graphic with the same name. There is totally just 11 wrecks or so. - Good news is I recently discovered that the WHeader file in the Wrecks.zfx can be hex edited to allow for more wrecks.

So the fun really begins if you want to add more wreck types than originally in CC3/COI. Thats when you would have to hex edit the WHeader file. Steve recently gave us the format of the file so it is well within reach to add different kinds of wrecks.

See this thread for some info on the WHeader file:

You are as old as you feel; so about 60 when I wake up, otherwise 32 Razz

I used to have a great time making the Hinds fire flamethrowers in Red Alert.

No StuGs though sadly...

Talking of StuGs though:
