I wonder if this has anything to do with the new Midway movie. Maybe Hollywood donated some research money or something.

Amazing video captured 3 miles deep.  Vulcun is non-profit funded by deep pockets of one of the founders of Microsoft, Paul Allen  They appear to have several other projects to search for WW2 sites.  And more work planned at Midway battlefield.  Paul Allen also founded WW2 warbird restoration center in Seattle including very rare FW190 and other fully restored aircraft.
