I'm very interested in playing more games from the African campaign on TLD and want to convert Afrika 40. I suspect others in this community feel the same way. I've seen a couple of people on the forums saying they were working on a conversion but it's been a long time since any updates - I unsure if those projects are still active.

I currently have the time and energy to work on a conversion and I've downloaded all the Afrika 40 files from dak_legion.

Two questions:
1) Is anybody already actively working on a conversion mod for Afrika 40? If so, I'm very happy to help.
2) Can anyone provide info on how to convert? Since I'm new to this, I'll need instructions on what to do.

Hi Astalon,

I like the less represented battles/countries that some of the mod makers have done over the years including Afrika 40. If nobody is working on this I can provide some tips....

First step is to grab the tools;
- Qclone: export the CC5 data to text files
- 5CC: for creating/editing map coding/data
- BED9: for creating/editing the BTD files (map entry/exit and victory locations) and strategic map data
- RtBTool: converts/packs/unpacks graphic files, exports data from the exe
- Excel or another spreadsheet program: to edit data
- Graphics program that can edit .tga files (ex. Photoshop): used to edit/make graphics
- Mod_Installer for target CC: builds an exe that installs the mod files and shortcut to start the mod
- Workbook for the target CC: explains what columns are in the data files and checks for some errors

This is great info - thank you! I've downloaded all of these but will not do anything just yet. I'll wait to see if anyone else is actively working on this conversion before starting.

Whatever you do, do something about the indestructible Matilda's. Smile. That killed the mod for me.

This is good to know - thanks - especially since I've not played this original version. There is another thread that has a whole lot of observations about this mod (but none about the indestructibility of the Matilda, only the ROF):
