I was playing TLD mod Kharkov, and a Russian prisoner walked over a VL and turned it to the Soviet. Now now I am wondering if some of the prisoners are actually soldiers who haven't surrendered? Cost me three officers to get it back. Maybe just kill them all next time.

Shooting surrendered soldiers is fun... I don't know why!

you both get an F in ethics. Mooxe, go to the principal's office after class.

In CC2, prisoners could attempt to escape. It was funny because they didn't leave the battlefield, they flocked to the nearest and weakest enemy unit. If that "baby sitting" unit lost morale the prisoners could get bold and run for it in an attempt to reach friendly lines. I think they could take VL's but I'm not sure.

In CC3 the prisoners tried to flee the battlefield at a walking pace towards their enemy side. You could attempt to rescue them and they would be available to you again for next battle (although with very bad morale and very depleted team). I vividly remember that you could shoot your own soldiers that had surrendered... as Soviets but if you tried as Germans you would get a cancelation of the order and a message that read "Friendly units in the area" or something like that. Some one correct me if I'm wrong. I think they could take back VL's too

I don't remember what happened to them in CC4.

In CC5 your guys that surrendered became invisible! wtf was that about lol. They could not take back VL's.

So yeah, there is a precedent of prisoners taking back VL's but not while being actual prisoners, but when they tried to escape.

I have made attempts from time to time to have an officer corps try to get a surrendered unit to switch, with limited effect. Mostly, if the German unit surrenders en mass, I will try to shoot them or hit them with mortars. It is hard to do either because of the warning of "friendly units" so I will shoot close to the area or use the mortars a little distance away.
