Seen no signs of such in last and previous visits...tall glass buildings in Minsk, many cosy restaurants and cafes, good roads, even in countryside, virtually no soviet-period cars, modern public transport. Small Belarus towns look almost always better that similar size Russians. Lukashenko did a great job cruising between West and Russia, obtaining kind of bribes to his economic from both sides. Even since 2020, no signs of decline, thanks to harsh anti-corruption measures, and also smart pre-caution measures, like having own card issue/processing system alternate to US-controlled ones long before Russia realized the need. China also made a large investments there. |
