I'm just shooting this question out there, I was wandering if any has or knows
were I could find an map on england that has the major road networks
displayed on it? I've seen a couple similar to this but none of them show
any of the roads. a overall map that shows the roads would work
thanks

Have a look at this site mate it might have what you are looking for

http://www.geog.port.ac.uk/webmap/hantscat/html/h0123974.htm

Any road map from 1920 through to 1950 would suit you, the road network wasn't expanded much up until the growth of the private car in the late 50's early 60's

Cheers

Hello mate:)

I managed to turn up that AA members handbook 1932-33, which shows all the major and minor roadnetsworks existing in the British Isles at that time.

Let me know if its of interest and I'll have a go at scanning it. The area you were considering for the Strat map is covered on 2 adjoining pages.

Cheers
Ronson

PS:- AA stands for Automobile Association.....nothing to do with drinking Rolling Eyes
