#1: Problems playing GJS 4.3 Author: Doodlebug, Posted: Tue Oct 12, 2004 9:06 pm Hello to all and sundry. Let me start by saying what an amazing site this is, I am particularly psyched about the photo gallery (Stalingrad, Market Garden, Italy '44...). Unfortunately I have been having a hell of a time playing GJS 4.3. The problem is that the game laaaaaaaaaags when I am scrolling units across the map during the deploy phase (and afterwards.)
I played without any of these issues on my old Windows 98 computer but recently I bought a screaming system with Windows XP, Geforce FX5700 vid card, Pentium 4 3.08 Ghz processor and lots of RAM.
Frankly, I'm terrified (I love CC - GJS 4.4, Stalingrad etc. are coming out eventually) and I don't know the first thing about what to do so that this maddening problem would cease. Has anybody had an issue like this where units lag when you drag them across ?
Please help, I would love to use my new computer to play my favourite game.

#3: Author: Doodlebug, Posted: Wed Oct 13, 2004 7:18 pm Thanks for the fast reply zappi, but I don't have my old hard-drive at the moment (so I only have access to Windows XP.)
Furthermore, I would need directions anyway (still getting used to the new operating system) on how to access and implement this compatibility.
Is it possible to do this using just Windows XP?
Thanks for your patience

#4: Author: bambam887, Location: BelgiumPosted: Wed Oct 13, 2004 7:25 pm To get the win 98 compatibility mode:
Right click on your CC5.exe then select properties, then put compatibility mode to win 98
Done
XP got his owner cpacity to witch from Xp to other window, like 98/95/.. then just use the shortcut of your CCV and select after right clik in, properties.
then in compability choice, launhc this program runing window 98.. and apply
Normally it will fix it
#6: Author: Doodlebug, Posted: Sun Oct 17, 2004 4:40 pm Hey guys, thanks for the help. I tried the suggestion but it still lags like crazy, is there a CC5 patch for anything newer than Windows 98 out there that I can DL. I don't know what else I can do.
#7: Author: RD_Roach, Location: CanadaPosted: Mon Oct 18, 2004 2:19 am Doodle...with a screamin PC like your sayin..you may have to do more then change to Win98 capability..CC games wont handle some Graphics cards all to well either!you may have to turn down your acceleration in your graphics(basicly slow it down) If you search in CSO forums this has been a problem for many...you may find your amswer there..good luck..dont give up mate..just a matter of the right settings.
Edit:..you may also have to disable DX...(not from experance..just what ive read in forums.)
your in the right place though...alot of experance in here
#8: Author: Pzt_Mac, Location: OregonPosted: Tue Oct 19, 2004 6:28 pm I've encountered something strange with GJS 4.3...
On certain saved games, I am only allowed to choose 14 units. The 15th unit space simply remains blank, no matter how many times I try to fill it
Has anyone ever heard of/fixed this problem before?

#10: Author: ZAPPI4, Location: Belgium LiegePosted: Thu Oct 21, 2004 1:36 am Sometimes, ( a lot in ops maded by Req) some units can be pill on one restricted area units..
I means sometimes 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 ... can be all in the same box fr units ( in the 15 box avaiable for your selected units in battle group screen)... i dunno if i explained correctly but if you trouble come again, delete all selected units rdy to fight, and place them in your force pool and rebuild your troopers.... by this way i know that some troops can lost their experience, but it's CCV rare bug .. i only seen it on GC sometimes and in some ops

Hey All. My CC5 lagging problems seem to be fixed. A friend installed and ran the latest Norton Anti Virus thingey. We think that it had something to do with spyware and junk clogging up the system. So, if you have this issue, try running that spyware out of your computer.
Worked for me...

#14: Author: mooxe, Posted: Sat Oct 23, 2004 5:59 pm Steppenwolf... I dont think theres a way to do it normally. Increasing your resolution may slow it down a bit.

if so u need to go to ur cc5 exe in invasion normandy folder and right click on it and select properties and set it to run at windows 98 compatibility.
then u will want to go back to in game options and speed the scroll up again
if ur not running xp i dont know what is causing it.
