Hi folks,

Way back in 1999 I used to play CC2 with a mate using a TCP/IP connection, when things were quite simple and most people had 56k modems and W95 or 98.

Hankering for the old days, we've been trying to do it again, but try as we might, we cannot seem to establish a multiplayer 'TCP/IP for internet or LAN play' connection in the game. He's using W98 and I'm using XP SP2.

I've tried disabling my firewall, virus protection and lowering all my security settings. I tried connecting to my wife's W98 laptop but that didn't work either (I have 2 CC2 disks). I use an ADSL ethernet router, to which my PC connects with USB.

I'd be very grateful if anyone could explain why we can't get a game going and suggest what we might try next. Is TCP/IP ancient technology that doesn't work anymore?

i would like to try but don't expect too much, ok!?

firstly, i think u should disable firewall so it makes things less complicated.
secondly, update your router's firmware to the latest because it might have some fix with XP SP2.
thirdly, update both machines DirectX version to 9.0c
then, since all CC games use DirectPlay7 so if the one acts as server
is behind router, forward the following ports on your router to the
server machine.

47624 TCP
2300-2400 TCP
2300-2400 UDP

lastly, if tcpip is not working, try connecting using udp. on my machine tcpip is not playable due to stutter MP game so i have to stick with udp and the game is smoother with it. Hope it helps Smile Good luck.
