Hiya;
I've got "IL-2 Sturmmovik" too.It's realy great game.Maybe the best simulator has been ever made about WWII.I love flying with Stukas.They are very good tank hunter ,Although They are so weak against fighters.But I suggest you Arg0n ,To pick one stuka and load it with just one "SC 250" bomb ,Then try to hit a T-34 with that.I can easily do it ,While it is nearly impossible with a IL-2(or other bombers) to do this.

IL-2 is very powerfull as a ground attack fighter ,But Not against other fighters.I can destroy it even with a "Bf-109F-2".

Hey Arg0n ,I've never played this game in multiplayer.

Cheers

Hey Kami I meant that it's dangerous to attack it head on because he can spray you with more ammo than you have in your airplane. I never played it in multy too. I once attacked it head on with a Bf (Can't remember the model) and Il-2 responded with a firestorm. Next thing I know I'm dead. I haven't got Forgotten Battles sorry, but I can destroy tanks with ease with rockets. However I one tried to dogfight (!) with an Il-2 against a Bf-109g and won (!!!). Cheers.
Arg0n.

Hi Arg0n;

I'm sure it is ,Because early IL-2s used 16 rockets which increases the chance of hitting targets.I can't hit tanks rockets ,While it is easier for me to destory them With Stukas.

He flew 2530 missions against the enemy. Whilst doing so he destroyed 519 Russian tanks, a battleship, a cruiser, a destroyer, 70 landing craft, over 800 motorized vehicles, over 150artillery, anti-tank and anti-aircraft positions.

Furthermore he destroyed important bridges, supply lines and bunkers. (One can increase these numbers since many of his missions were flown without the knowledge of the Reich’s leadership and the tallies were assigned to the Geschwader. Hitler forbade his flying because he did not want him lost to the propaganda machine). Rudel was shot down 30 times, and he was wounded 5 times. He also saved six crews downed behind enemy lines and escaped once from Russian captivity.

He was decorated with the highest award for bravery in the German armed forces. He received the golden oak leaves with swords and diamonds to the Knights Cross. His iron will was remarkable.

Some other remarkable facts about Rudel were that in Feb 1945, he was shot down and severly wounded (He lost his right leg, he was saved by his gunner who dragged him from the wrecked plane). Despite this, he recovered from his injuries and was flying combat missions again in just over a month (But this time on FW-190's) until he surrendered to the Americans in May 1945. He moved to live in Argentina in 1948 where he played tennis, went skiing and climbed several Andes mountains (Including the highest in South America, Mt Aconcagua at 6,959 metres), all with only one leg. He returned to live in West Germany in 1953 where he became a successful businessman and, amongst other things, provided some input into the developement of the USAF A-10 Warthog. He died in 1982, and yes he was a remarkable man, but he was also a dedicated Nazi and remained so all his life.

I just got blazing angels sqaudrons of WW2 and the german stukas and henkels are easy prey unless protected by the Me-109's then it takes about another 10 minutes to end the firefight, but most of the time henkels are the only bombers to have escorts and the stukas are unprotected.
