Oh dear-another newbie question :zzz

I'm currently in love with Stalingrad-Der Kessel and Afrika 41-2, but since they will come out (i.e. both not in beta) I'm guessing at around the same time, I was wondering if there was any ways to simply switch between one and the other.

If it they don't come out soon I may go mad from playing vanilla CC5!

Yes you can have as many mods as you like! All you need is the CC5 Configuration Manager (Cfgv13) This can be found here in the downloads.

Create a new folder in your C/drive,give it a name like CC5 Plug manager(or whatever you wish to name it). Unzip the Cfgv13 into this new folder. This is a program that allows you to have all your mods in one place, and allows you to change from one mod to another or back to vanillaCC5 by not haveing a mod installed.

Things you have to have before the mods will work.

1) Make sure you have a *full* install of CC5
2) Download and install the CC 501a patch, this can be found here as well in the Downloads, just open the zip and answer yes to all questions, and it will install itself(to verifie it installed properly, start your game up and on main screen, bottom left corner it should say 5.01 not 5.00)

Once thats done, you can start adding mods to the Configuration Manager.

1)Download the mod(s) you want to play.
2) Unzip the mod to the *Pluggin Folder* that is inside your new folder you created for the Cfg13.
3) Add any new maps that are needed to play this mod(these are put into your *maps* folder . C/Drive/SSI/CloseCombatNormandy/Maps,this is where its located .

Now that youve added the maps, added the mod to the Cfg13.

Open up your new folder that has the Cfg13,inside this folder you will see a Icon that reads Cfg13,double left click it,this will open up the program, inside that you should see the Mod name in lower half of this screen, move your mouse over the name and left click it to highlight the name, then right click the name, this gives you a options window, this is how you install the mod or uninstall it,just pick the desired option you want(install, uninstall,or to remove it from your Cgf13 Delete it)

Its a very simple thing to use, once you have done it a few times.

Some mods also need other things done before they work, each mod has a read me file to help you install them properly, Read them before you try installing them, and by chance if you find it confuseing, just post and someone will help you.

Good Luck!

G'day from downunder Roach, Thanks for the advice you've given here to Mythoclastic on plug-oins for mods. I have been playing GJS for a few months now in gamespy (And getting my arse beaten by almost everybody there) and want to try other mods, but I'm too computer dumb to uninstall and reinstall the various mods. I followed your advice and have installed the cfg13 file and installed the GJS, Overlord and Utah mods to the manager (They're in the bottom half as you advised).

However when I go install any of the mods to the upper half, it comes up with:-

"Failed to copy C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Data\Battles\Acqueville to System\Original\Aqueville because C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Data\Battles\Acqueville does not exist" and then "Installation failed" and so I can't progress any further.

Now I found a plug-in in the downloads section here from njnjr23 called stockmapreplacement.zip which replaces maps called Acqueville, Airfield and Mederet with Pont Aubault, Fictional Normandy and St Marie du Mont. Do I need to install these replacements so that the CC5 config manager will install the mods? Or is there something else I need to do? Thanks for this and cheers.

u need to install the cc5 in standard form
i.e not have gjs as the sole cc game

as it does not use standard files

so when u go to plug another mod in
that has the plugin written correctly
it cannot find the standard CC reg files
so it cannot complete it s conversion.

u have to get ur set up back to reg cc5
and then install the plugins making sure each one works after install
and more importantly
that they uninstall correctly
this means opening the reg 5.01 cc game
quick check that all maps r normal, units ect
u should play a reg game so u will notice if sounds or something else has been left behind.

but first step install cc5 again 5.01 patch it
and read the install instructions carefully
i can u with plugin conv in gs
