Hi, I have been playing stalingrad for like a month now and it is really great, but I can't help to notice that some of the close range AT weapons are somewhat useless.

First, some of them don't have the power to stop a tank or their minimum range is too short.

Second, the panzerjäger teams are really useless, and I'm not exaggerating here. I think this is due to the fact that they are leaderless units and suffer a huge morale penaltie when outside a command radius rendering them innefective for 'hunting tanks' as they are supposed to do, then for some reason the three soldiers composing the unit are clased as type '2' soldiers (crew) even though they don't have any crewed weapon at all.

The problem is that you are using them as "Tank Hunters" all small AT Weapons must be used as "Tank Ambushers" Laughing At least thet is my strategy and works just fine. And of course some weapons just can´t penetrate some armor.

Confused I've only ever used panzerjager units to ambush and there still useless. Panzerjager (german for tank hunter if you hadn't guessed) is a misnomer in stalingred. I've tried countless times, sometimes with two at once, and have only once knocked out any armour. And as for armour penetration tellermines and panzerhandmines are specifically designed to destroy tanks and should do so. Plus the benzinkannisters and molotovs those guys are packing are incendiary and don't need to pierce the armour. It's more a matter of cooking your enemy in a neat little metal box (yum). Something really should be done about it.
The range I'd have to agree with as I'm pretty sure the mines had to be stuck on a tank rather than thrown. However this can't really be done in CC5 as there's no such thing as a fuse and your lads would blow themselves to kingdom come.

thats why they got Iron Cross for knocking out 1 tank Wink.
historically it was normal to KO tank in 2-5% of cases. they just had to use what they had on hands.

same for soviet RPG-40 AT grenade that could hardly break a track of PzIII.

actually it was pretty much psychological factor that forced crew to abandon tank. it was virtually impossible to make tank catch fire with molotovs or canisters unless tank was damaged already or had production flaws that allowed burning liquid to get inside the combat compartment.
