Jack Churchill

Great article. Enthralling the whole way through.

Highlights for me:

Where he and one NCO took 42 prisoners and escorted them (and all their weapons) to friendly forces!

Walking into an arab firefight in full parade dress smiling:
"I grinned like mad ... as people are less likely to shoot at you if you smile at them."

Endless examples of heroism.

And surfing in Australia after the war.

What a legend.

"The first German sentry post, manned by two men, was taken in silence. Churchill, his sword blade gleaming in the night, appeared like a demon from the darkness, ordered “haende hoch!” and got results. "

hahahaha

Look at it from the german soldats point of view. The darkness might have been full as a tick of OTHER lunatic English blokes, they MIGHT be able to shoot this one dead, but . . . what a good awful wound he might give me, with that toad-poker he is waving about. . . . .Not even the maddest officer could blame a man for giving up to someone smiling, and waving a sword about in the dark. lol.

Yeah, really stupid bloody waste of lives and more importantly, those young men ought to have been wandering around europe TOGETHER, finding drinking establishments, and rooting foreign girlies.

"Hey, Hans, it is that mad bloody English again, with his bow and arrows and his bagpipes. Hey there, you mad English, where is your sister you promised me?"

"Hi Fritz, want to drink French Beer with me, we can compare it to REAL beers".

Smile

Wish it had never been allowed to happen. We would be living on Mars, or somewhere further out, by now.

Have claymores and longbows ever been added to the game?
