I beleive Zappi will be making a post about the mod.

But you can go here to get the mod and reply with questions/comments/bugs.

http://www.reddevilscc.com/forum/default.asp?CAT_ID=23

We can discuss the which Op looks the best and start the weekend of Feb 17th if everyone is ok with that?

I have asked the RD that they post before next weekend if they are going to play. We already have 11 signed up. I have asked that anyone who sign up from RD commit to 2 games per week.

Looks like you got 6 Mercs (with yourself) Zappi. I would love to see 6 more. We can kick this thing off as early as Feb 17th if we get more signed up.

Lets monitor over the next 5-6 days and see what happends. Then we can discuss the Op itself if needed.

SOunds good.

Thanks for the summary of MSN addresses Zappi, I will post mine early this week.

Shall we have a signup cutoff of this Wednesday of everyone who will participate?

We can start the Op next Friday. Now all we need to do is a pick an operation.

    —
Yes i will send email to every mercenary asking for them to confirm for wednesday.

Maybe we can already trying to settle the rules...

15 min?
moral off?
no act on ini?
Line/line?
tank limits?
Broken deploy rules?
replaying battle after crashing by same player?
3 game in a row by same player on the same week's operation?

#18:  Author: RD_Trolljoss PostPosted: Sun Feb 11, 2007 4:56 pm
    —
Yes, sounds good.

IMO:

15 min
moral off
never act on initiative
Max 2 tanks, no limit for the armored cars, jeeps...
No reinforce
all victory locations and 2 mins warning.
VL deploy rule ( ie areas not connected to friendly VL are off limits)
Crashed battles will be replayed by two other players.

Joss

    —
just if i can ...
replaying crashed battle by other player will maybe be a prblm if no one else is online to play...

Well about the tank, if u limit tank u should limit AT gun too. Cos in those open map AT gun look like same as a tank. Just maybe 2 tanks maxi for 3 AT gun maxi...
And what about forward observer ... maybe good to limit them too

About the broken deploy rule, just add than cornered connection is ok

... tell me what

Yes, you're right Zappi.

Let's see what the others players thinks about the unit limits rules, personnaly i havent got enought experience with this mod.

Sorry, i haven't thought an Fo teams, of course we should set limits!

#21:  Author: RD_Helmut PostPosted: Sun Feb 11, 2007 8:10 pm
    —
Im fine with those, but why limit anything?

If you can win a map with 10 Vehicles, all the more power to you.

Also, I know we have a few members that dont like to play with the Never act on initiative. I personally dont care, and in a 15 min game I dont think it matters as most troops stay still for 15 min.

#22:  Author: ZAPPI4Location: Belgium Liege PostPosted: Sun Feb 11, 2007 9:42 pm
    —
About the limits well i dont care about with or without that's either for me...

Well about the no act on ini, your troops will move themself if they dont receve order after 10 min. That's means you can see a strong defend position breaking their wall some min before the end just cos they havent receved any order ... the Game is settled like that. I see this like a intolerable things Mad but if u prefer to play with act on ini, it's ok for me. Just i have dificulty to understood why any team or soldier will move out of position cos they have no new order since 10 min... It look like refuse to follow order for me, and punished by martial court isnt it? But like i said, if u care to play with act on ini, this is ok :Cool

This came from Oddball, when I asked him which op to play?

- '60 miles' and 'Border Raids' might play more balanced h2h.

and do not have any map connection "issues" reported as of yet.

YOu can pick it Zappi, doesnt matter to us.

Lets have some fun.

Whatever limits you guys want to set is fine by me. Will you be having a second in command( i presume you are commander ZAPPI) so pppl area ble to recieve orders if the CO is not around. Also i think there should be a limit on how many maps a player can do per day

Dacman, if you look at previous post, it was said that no one will play more than 3 battles in a row.

One more thing:

I have never played in any Op or GC where I practiced games in advance or hosted the opposite side of the file with others to see where units are on a strat map, but it is my understanding that some people actually do this. I and the RD feel this is not the way the game was meant to be played (take surprise element out & the fun). We do not play this way, I would hope the MERCS would not either.

As a rebuttel to this I have been asked in past - that there is no way to monitor this. Well, YOu have my word and the honor that our clan is built on that no one will do so.

Looking forward to hearing which Op you all want to play.

I will post my list of players on Wednesday. I will try to create an MSN file of all the RD players that will play, so that anyone can DL it into their MSN.

If you want we can create this for the MERCS if I am given a final list by Wednesday.

I think I'm supposed to post here...

Zappi.

We're nearing completion of Pzt War III, so that's 1st priority. Though shouldn't interfere as it will be over soon.
Also. I'm moving my residence very soon so will probably be offline for a few weeks until I get settled.

I'll try to fight for the mercs whenever possible. Just wanted to give you my stat.

GO MERCS!

-------------------

Regarding that "no peek" rule about looking at the others file. That rule is real nice for allies in CC as they have great recon and see more enemy BG's in strat screen than the axis. So having such a "no peek" rule favors one side over the other which imo isn't fair and balanced.
I don't know if it's a CC bug, or if it's for historical reasons as allies had better air recon late in the war, but the allies have a definite advantage knowing where enemy BG's are located. So having a "no peek" rule isn't balanced in team play.

Just the facts. That's all I'll say on the matter. For your consideration.

In regards to your email Wruff, If the experience your talking about is in relation to GJS then the allies would have better recon as they had air superiority. I don't know if the better recon applies to all mods. But depending on allied air support in African campaign I believe the peek rule should apply to the historical circumstance. ie allied air superiority no to peek. axis a/s or even, yes to peek rule. If that makes sense...

#32: mmm Author: ANZAC_Lord4warLocation: Sydney Australia PostPosted: Wed Feb 14, 2007 6:01 am

should be both sides can peek.
so both sides r not in doubt about the other activities.
if one side fails to peek,it is bad recon on their part.

With all due respect, I disagree with you.

I know half of the MERCS that have signed up and if they give me their word that they will not look at both sides of a file, that is good enough for me.

If anyone is not comfortable with this please let me know. You have my word that no player in RD will look at both sides of the file, nor practice battles in advance.

It was not the way the game is meant to be played. Its so much more fun when guessing of units is involved, not to mention realistic.

I never met someone who lost and laughed that I like. We are all competitive (i appreciate that) but we are playing a new mod and trying to have fun, not playing for cash.

Still waiting for the Op you gentlemen wish to play and a final list of MERCS signed up to play.

Np mate, Mercenary can play in blind way ...

I played some battle with Afrika and used the Req to build scenario ....
fought with 25 Pdr AT gun and i saw than this gun refuse to fire any target and keep a black circle whatever the targets are. I saw too some units are in
i didnt tryed the 2 / 6 / 17 / Pdr AT gun ..

Something else now ...
I saw too in via the Req than some place are listed "OPEN" it will be maybe good to add those "OPEN" in a Tiger, Panther, etc ... troops than wasnt evolving in Afrika in this date... But those units would be hidden for a regular game and will bring only if they are selected via the Req, then it will be good cos Ladder's game will luv those units to make ladder's battle....

Still waiting to hear which Op the MERCS would like to play. I mentioned 2 above that have no bugs reported yet.

Zappi or someone please pick one. I was hoping you would have this yesterday.
If we dont have it by tonite (Thurs) we wont have enough time to strategize to start the thing on Friday. We'll most likely have to push till Sunday or next week.

May I recommend the op called 60 Miles, in an attempt to jump start this thing?
Oddball recommmends playing the Ops on Vet/Vet.

If you like this Op, please pick a side.

Sorry for delay

Well personnaly i 'm ok for 60 Miles

but first plesae let's replay the rules :

Operation in VV ( both "clan" will play both side. Combined PC result will determine winner. In case of tie, we calculate the casualties, the one with less losses gains.)

22 Min
moral on
No act on ini
Line/line ( u asked for veteran/veteran it's either)
Broken deploy rule avaiable
Maximum 3 game in a row on the same week(morning and evening round) by the same player.
in case of crash both player replay, or they can change player.

No limits.

that's it i guess.
Good luck to all of us. Let's take some fun.

Zappi,

When did these new rules come in?

Why 22 minutes? That is a bizarre time? Why not just 20 minutes (supply runs out after about 15)? Have you dont some research we all should know about to make the mod/game better?

Furthermore, if your going to play a game with 20 or 22 minutes, someone needs to edit a saved game file to change this.

And why morale? THe maps are too big to have morale on.

I wouldnt replay any battles with same players unless it crashes in begining and both players thinks nothing was given away.

I dont have any problems with the others. And I suggested Vet/Vet to limit the force pools, it is also what Oddball suggested might make it a very even Op.

As far as playing both sides, I have no problem playing both sides if we all enjoyed the Op and found it to be balanced.

You can even pick which side you want, I dont care.

As far as starting Saturday morning, you have not left us (MERCS or RD) with much time to digest this and come up with some team strategy. Gen Jack will be commanding the Op for RD and he is not around until Wednesday.

I recommend holding off until next week. Id like some time to further discuss the new rules you presented.

Heres what I posted in our forum and what I thought to be the rules:

Rules:
-15 min battles
-Moral off
-Never act on initiative
-No limits
-No reinforce
-All victory locations and 2 mins warning.
-VL deploy rule (ie areas not connected to friendly VL are off limits)
-Crashed battles will be replayed by two other players.

We do NOT practice battles or look at the other side of an Op (for any reason).

Let me know if you have problems with them.

Then please tell me which side you would like.

Zappi, you might want to help SAS Snake out with the rules of Team Op play (MERC).

He couldnt log into the CC Series website (not sure about the MERC side) and wanted to play a game in the Op. I refused to play him unless he could read up on the War and the MERC strategy.

I didnt think it was fair to play a new player who hasnt been involved yet and have not read anything.

Hope no one has a problem with that.

There are never any RD players on at the same time as me. I spent hours waiting at my comp for many nights and eventually gave up. The time zones just don't match up for me Sad I would really like to be involved but wat with only having three or four hours free at night always at the same time there is nothing i can really do.

DacMan, I see you are in Australia. Unfortuantely both of our Australian members did not sign up for this Op because they were away on business. I do think they will sign up for the next Op when we flip sides.

However, I find it extremely hard to believe that you cannot find any RD players on during the weekend. We have maniacs that stay up all hours during the weekend (including myself -and I never seen you on MSN).

I do not play on the weekends Helmut, I play on weeknights, So I don't find it very hard to believe either. Also I do not use MSN i use yahoo on which i have seen you and requested games though I receive no answer. The same with RD trolljoss who has put his account on " out to lunch" everytime I see it. I mentioned in my original post on this forum that I would endeavour to play around work commitments. Regardless I still wish to play and view every AAR posted on Merc forum. Anyway, if there are goin to be australians playin in next stage of the op it should make it easier for me and hope to be more involved as you, and I, would like.

I thought the everyone that played for the MERCS side did a really good job and played almost error free. Congrats on the Major victory.

I look forward to playing as the Italians next Friday.

Thanks to all of RD and the Mercenaries who fought so hard and kept each side in contention through to the end. I think we all learned a lot about the Africa mod and hopefully had fun playing it together. It sure beats playing the AI.

I look forward to the next round. Good Luck to all.
