Hi to all of you who like/are interested in the late Stalingrad battle!

SOC has been fully installed on my old PC this late afternoon and is working well. Except some early (unevitable) moding errors that I will fix tomorrow (the lend/lease M4M3 gun has for instance a wonderfull MG icon!!) without problem, everything works well.
I wanted to show you with this message some early pics of the mod. Please be kind to consider them as an "early beta version"!!

Cheers to you all. The last chapter of the Stalingrad Trilogy is well on the tracks. I am confident that all the SDK fans will love it.

Cheers
PJ

Hi to all of you,

I would like first to apologise not to answer you seperately! Be sure that I appeciate your support. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time tonight and, after reading your messages, I came to the conclusion that I could make a general answer to everybody:

1) The SOC standarts are higher to the SDK ones. Laughing
2) SDK will be upgraded to the SOC standarts in due time. Razz
3) SOC difficulty is so high that moving up to half of the campaign willl be the real challenge. Rolling Eyes Axis ammo will be very poor. Supply Axis will be very poor. Axis will not have access to outside Arty or Aircraft attack. Mad They will have some, very limited, inside arty attack (divided between 150mm 10ling nebelwerfers and 105mm le FH's (only some shells a day, as historically).
4) Is the mod unplayable??? Yes but...No. I have, without cheating with the history, placed a lot of weapon pits, minefields, AT obstacles, barbed wires, small bunkers etc... on all the peripheric maps of the Kessel. If you can succeed to ambush the Red Army HERE, you will be given a -very small- chance to win. It will be the challenge for the Axis player to use 150% of the available terrain to ambush, retreat, etc.... and, ultimately, don't forget to use the scavenging tool! It will be their last and only chance.

As you can understand, there will not be any Vetmod in SOC. The mod itself is HardVet. It will be only for Veteran players who want to beat the impossible. That means that AI MG's -as 50% of the enemy units- will not be immobile!!!!!! That means that enemy recruit units will not charge in open terrain without being shot by a MG42 shell etc.... Do you see whet I mean?

Cheers
PJ

Hi to you all,

Some of you have expressed some "exiting interrogations" about the difficulty level of SOC.

I have played so far the beginning of the Grand Campaign and the beginning of the Rossoschka Campaign. What I can tell so far is:

1.- Yes, the difficulty is stunning. I have fine tuned the ammo level of the Axis side and I can tell you that, with app. 30% of the ammo (which is historically more or less accurate- every battle is a tough challenge.

2.- Yes, you spend your time to retreat but, if you play well (or more than that if you want to survive...), you can do some counterattacks and, more important, you can make to the enemy heavy losses (once more, historical: the Red Army lost 26000 soldiers and HALF of their tanks in the 4 first days of the Operation Circle campaign). Just hoping that, one day or another, they will weaken at a point where you could stop their progression until Stalingrad. It is simply the aim of the mod!

3.- There are some CC playing tools that you will have to learn and, I would say, use maybe for the first time. Scavenging in an example. Also, don't waste your few ammo. Use your arms only at point blank or so. Use your MG's with one salvo at a time etc....

Once that said, It remains possible to play (to win, I still don't know). I have attached to this post some pics of my current Rossoschka Campaign -battle in the Kasatchij Kurgan map- which will show you what will be the challenge but as well what will be possible to do.

Last, there will obviously not be any VetMod in SOC. SOC is already a Vetmod by itself!!

The launch date is still scheduled for 2008, January 10th if everything goes well. Before that, I will ask to all of you who are interested in Beta testing the mod to contact me. Of course, everyone will not be selected but take your chance if you want and, much more important- if you are really interested in this unique mod.

DDay mods are so far away from this!

Cheers
PJ
