Hi All,

My friend toild me that with my router confi Gamespy was a no go, and Vista = no direct IP play either

I have installed CC5 on my Win2000 Pro PC and I can play it solo.

I want to connect with my brother and he can see my game on TCP multiplayer screen, but cant connect to it..... any ideas?

i used vista for a while, i used that copy for my loungeroom now for media centre....

anyhow, search the forum for 'vista and gamespy error' something like that.

then go to mooxes post of faq, look i posted numbers needed for port forwarding.

go to portforward.com and find ur modem/router, follow instructions, buy it if u r dumb like me.i ended up months later figuring out my router gave me problems, not modem, and i am now port forwarded and hosting happily ccv at gamespy.

cheers

If you have a somewhat more modern router you can actually solve the entire external-internal ip problem (gamespy ug) by matching the two(ie external ip 2.2.2.2 internal ip 2.2.2.2).
My router has that handy dandy option (with the remark that its for OLD games), so no need for port forwarding. Smile

matching external and internal, to my knowledge, does nothing, sure try it....

but i had to defind every computer on my network(192.168.0.1 is gateway(internet) and 192.168.0.2 is my wifes pc, 192.168.0.3 is my pc) then add ports for CC (go to faq, full list, also at gamespy help) about 6 TCP and UDP figures to add, save and reboot.

actually i only stumbled on that option after a frustrating session trying to port forward.. tho in my case i only had to change my pc's ip.the other 3 pc's on the network i left as is..with no problems.
but i geuss that this kind of fix is really user specific.

yeah but seriously, what about my win 2000 issue.. its probably a router thing as well anyway.

My opponent can see the game, but cant join it...

on direct IP (TCP) connection via multiplayer menu, not gamespy.
