yes, mot rifles were supposed to be used in close coop with tanx and HTs, so 8men Mot.Rifle squad is devided in 4men Rifle Group+2men Gun Group+2men in HT.

if someone has reference that brit mot. rifles chnged to 10men organization with reequipping to HTs, let me know plz.

Your right Dima, as far as I can tell infantry sections of a motor battalion were 8 men strong in 1944 organisation, as opposed to the 10 man section in the line battalions.

The motor battalions were in themselves a well equipped unit, comprising of a HQ Coy, Support Coy, and 3 Motor Coys, carried on a combination of US 1/2 tracks, for the Motor Coys, White scout cars in the HQ Coy, and Carriers in the Support Coy.
The Support Coy was the strongly armed part of the organisation, comprising of 3 AT platoons each having 4x6pdrs and 2 MMG platoons of 4 Vickers guns each.
Each Motor Coy had an integral scout platoon mounted on carriers, this carried a PIAT at section level as opposed to the platoon level in the rest of the Company. Also each Coy. had a 3" mortar section attached comprising of 2 tubes.
It appears that some battalions had a MG on the 1/2 tracks, while others didn't, why this was I have no idea, maybe a shortage of them or the preferance of the CO.

Cheers
Ronson

yes but the thing is that WE from Jan 1944 gives such number for section but it refers for M3A1 Armrd Car as to be used by mot.infantry that couldn't carry more than 8men. And 22nd,11th and Guards ADs were re-equipped to M9A1 HTs just prior to Normandy Invasion and HTs could carry 12men!

That's the question actually, did they move to new section organisation (maybe even took some guys from reserve, support and iclude them in section) or remained old section organisation.
