Hi,

pzjager, all you sad in your last post is a relative truth (it's two sided medal). I don't want to talk about politics and make enemies, we are here for the game. But,

1st - Croatia had strong antifascist movement in WW2, my grandfather was there (liberating Belgrade, Zagreb and Trieste) in partisan 12. Slavonian brigade since 1943, my mother's uncle was communist before the war and in partisans since 1941 (he's killed in winter 1944 by Croatian fascists Ustasas in woods near his village, as he tried to visit his family), on the other hand my best friend's grandfather was on the axis side.

2nd - Yes, my mothers sister is Croatian who got married in Serbia, i love them. I love every decent, truth loving, peaceful Serb more than a crooked Croat. My school friend's father was killed in my hometown back in 91' when Yugoslav army broke through to town in tanks shooting everywhere. He was a major in Yugoslav army, the hole class few days after the battle stood by our friend, no matter, he's a Serb. Croatian Serb. He, still lives in Croatia, works and have kids. His father is buried in Karlovac (Croatia)

3rd - Yugoslav army wanted to create great Serbia, like Serbia tried it before (Balkan wars - before WW1, and after WW1 with represion towards especialy Croatians in Kingdom of Yugoslavia with Serbian king in charge)

4th - Croatians are nation like Serbs and deserve the right to have a state of their own, we had referendum back in 91'(75% citizens of former Socialist Republic of Croatia wanted independence which mr.Milosevic didn't liked it)

5th - I feel sorry for Croatian cities destroyed by Yugoslav (Serb) army like Vukovar, Dubrovnik, Osijek etc... like i feel sorry for Serbian cities like Valjevo where my second part of family lives, which suffered great devastation from NATO bombardment.

6th - I do not agree with any kind of represion, domination and killing

7th - I know history very well

All the best !!

M

To sum all your posts up:
If you want to join US Army, you can, whatever background you come from. Its the best time to join.

I am joining the US Army next year when I return from Korea.

That said I don't understand the logic behind 'boosterism' and 'recruiting" for the US Army on the CCS board which is for a game, and the site membership is overwhelmingly 'international" in make up. If someone is interested in military service they will seek it out. Great that you are a proud soldier. Kudos to you, but this is the wrong forum to recruit. If someone is interested they will message you I am sure.

Also WTF with the side tangent on Serbia/Croatia/Bosnia/Kosovo?

Leave this stuff off the board. Anyone with a stake(ie family and history in these regions) will NEVER be able to seperate facts from personal feelings after having lost family and friends and seen the destruction of the war up close.

FACT is the enemy and criminals were not any one group or ethnicity or anyone OUTSIDE of the former Yugoslavia.

The real criminals and guilty parties were the F**King bastards in charge of each army/militia and government. The regular people were caught up in the lies and bs spilled by the respective 'ethnic' leaders. It was never about history and culture or religion. It was all about power and enrichment. The guys leading and starting the war got rich and everyone else died for their profits.

Former Yugoslavia got suckered by slick immoral fast talking thugs, criminals, gang bosses and unscrupulous politicians concerned with themselves. The people paid the price. Croatians/Bosnians and Serbs overwhelmingly have more in common with each other than they have differences (up till that war at least, and I would argue even now). The guys in charge exploited myths and history and blatent lies to create the right setting for bloody slaughter and ethnic cleansing/attempted genocide.

Everyone ended up losing. Pray it never happens again. There is no good war, just wars that might be less reprehensible.

Lets get back to the game and leave politics and ethnic or religions discussions off the board.

Just my opinion.

Nick

First off, this is the Mess section of the form, for subjects like this.
Second, are you already a sergeant, prior service?

Evil or Very Mad

Don't take offense, I am not criticizing so I am sorry if it came off that way.

I am impressed actually by your enthusiasm for your service and willingness to help people.

My point, and perhaps I should have made it better, is that you can certainly post that if anyone is interested in joining the US Army you are here and willing to answer questions. Talk it up, sure, but the nature of the boards membership as Tack pointed out make it very unlikely you will get much response. So don't be surprised by a lack of interest.

Plus as I said, most guys past 20 who were interested in military service would have gone to the recruiter on their own or served already.

This forum posts what quite a fun read....

Good old Ft. Benning Georgia...just there for basic or your a ground pounder?

Btw I have and am still serving in the US Army...11yrs and going...so anywho.

I do agree about the post, that for this type of community its quite a post, 1. international

2. CC is old, thus I assume most the players are past recuitment age. So not alot of feedback.

Also, as a reply to the Bush bashers and what not,
Its easy to criticize a nations president when he is on top, when you are a lowly unknown it comes hard to criticize. I like people that have thier own opinions. So don't look at it as me opinion bashing.

There are people that know whats going on, and people that think they know whats going on. And people that know enough but know too little of whats going on.

Its just my opinion...

I was discharged last summer after 12 months of military service in the Norwegian Army. I can honestly say that it has been the best year of my life, no doubt.

As for joining the US Army, no thank you. 4 years of service seems to be way too long a commitment. However, I do understand why you joined and I respect your choice. Just stay alive Wink

There are anywhere from minimum of 1 1/2 to 2year commitments

I like how everyone says stay alive.....I done so many high end high risk tours and I am alive....

SFC Klemer, don't the short enlistments require a soldier to serve in the IR/NG/Rreserves for another 4-6 years?

Ok let me explain how this works, Say I enlist for 3 years, most usual standard enlistment option, when I get out I serve 5 years under IR, or inactive reserve. There is no annual training, or constant medical overwatch.
It doesnt matter of short or long enlistments, so if i do 5 I have 3yrs IR. Or If I do 8yrs thats no IR time.

Now officers have a different story, unless your commision is resigned you can be called back to active duty anytime.

Now the chances of a IR callup? My wife served 5yrs as Military Police, with 3 years IR, never got a letter or a phone call for IR. In fact you don't even need to update any system to say where you are living, hint, so most of the time if there is a IR callup it gets only 10 to 25% of the inital callup.

Now I have seen articles in newspapers and such the 30,000 ex soldiers are being IR recalled. I have yet to see it work effectively. Also if you do show up, thats not counting the people that get out of it through means of, I have a better life/job than in the army, or my health just dumped out on me, etc...

Out of the people I have met in the Army I have only met, 1 IR callup, he didnt have to go back to the Army after his re-evaluation. He chose too cause of what he missed. And out of his IR callup section, there were only 10 people, all volunteered to go back after the IR callup.

And another way to get out of IR callups....join the Federal workforce...so if you work at the post office, or a federal prison, your safe....there is so many ways to ditch.

Also with the amount of ways to bail out the IR, they rarely ever happen. There has to be extreme cases where a certain job area is short or something like that, and it takes congress to approve a IR callup.

Hope my short book helps....LOL :zzz Rolling Eyes Razz
